So now it's the date of the articles I quoted that is in question. I thought your original argument stated that I was relying on unreliable sources for my information. Now it's the dates. Why not just say that in the first place? Searching the internet I would have to agree with your most recent assessment. It still doesn't change the fact that I'm a bit bummed about the 8-speed not making it for 2010, but I absolutely understand why Hyundai chose to wait. Still, it would have been nice, don't you think? The 8-speed auto could have potentially lead to quicker 0-60 times for the V8. Something it needs to better differentiate it's performance from the that of the V6.

As far as what HMA says, again, we shall see. FWIW, Hyundai also claimed to have "fixed" the suspension in the Azera 2-3 times now, but there are still unhappy owners. Search an Azera forum sometime if you don't believe me. I'm just personally not ready to say the new suspension is better without so much as a test drive.

And since I know you will reply to this post I'm going to do everyone else in this thread a favor and let you have the last word, which you obviously so desperately crave. Enjoy your weekend!

Actually, an 8-speed transmission will hurt the 0-60 time and quarter mile time of the car because it will have to shift more often. What it will help is passing power because the engine will more likely be in the proper rev range for better acceleration.

I doubt it will even help that. I'm sure it will also be overtuned for fuel economy. That is were I see it's benefits comeing into play. As for passing or going up even a small incline without looseing speed, it will probably still need to downshift ( and most likely have to churn through more gears ); or be put in manual mode. Hope I'm wrong.

Personally, I think the 8speed is an attempt to mark additional checkboxes, and save money by using their own trany instead of buying from ZF. If haveing an 8 speed were of such high importance to HMA they could use the ZF 8 speed till theirs is ready; the fact they are not in a rush to have an 8 speed in 2010 models, sugests otherwise. Also the current ZF is so smooth in most situations, as well as being tried and true, I'm not morning the 2010's not haveing the 8 speed. just MHO.

I took my wife's Mercedes CLK350 in today, as I thought it was a little sluggish and had excessive tire noise on the right side.

Svc Mgr told me that the MB system is like the Genesis, in that it "learns" driving patterns. I rarely drive it, but this weekend it was sluggish to me, just like my 4.8 Genny.

The tire noise is my right side tires coming up for needing replacement....at 10,992 miles and a cost of $1,100. He told me to expect 13-14K on tires in South Florida under best conditions.

Makes my crappy Dunlops seem like a bargain-lol!

What a shame. The 17 speaker Lexicon is the one thing I will miss when I trade it away! A great sound system!

Just for the record If the car rides better in hot temps, I am in for a whole lotta trouble when I realize I have just had about 100 day over 100 degrees F. Oh who is me come cooler temperatures.

Also for the record If the suspension changes have already been phased in ( mine was built in April 09 ) lordy lordy it must have really been horrible before, Plus I can no longer look forward to relief in 2010.

No Lexicon and dvd-audio = no 2010 Genesis for me. I will confirm this and then reconsider the 2009 or move on to a different car that offers me this option

In the link provided in the thread "2010 Genesis Specs" Hyundai's web site still shows the Lexicon audio system available for the 2010 Genesis sedans.

thanks, noticed that as well. Also after a google search everything I can tell is the sound system remains the same as the 2009. I'm finally ready to jump in as a Genesis owner and will anxiously await the 2010 launch.

AutoBlog has a few words on the 2010 Genesis as well as a Press Release from Hyundai.

The press release doesn't give many details so AutoBlog spoke to company spokesman Dan Bedore for more information around suspension changes for 2010:

"We're Hyundai, and we'll always seeking continuous improvement. We've made a series of small chassis changes, with a particular focus on improving steering and handling. We've made small adjustments to the steering, increasing efforts and tweaking feel around center; reduced friction in some suspension components; increased V6 rear spring rates; and added more jounce and rebound control to our shocks."

Makes me want the 2010 even more, although when I test drove a 2009 a few months ago I was quite happy with the ride quality on a very badly surfaced road.

If there were suspension changes made in 2009 or beginning with 2010 models, would not there be some modification of parts numbers for things like shocks, springs and bushings? If anybody has access to a dealer parts catalog, perhaps they could check this idea out.

This has been discussed previously. There is a 2010 parts list online but not sure how accurate it is. Plus the parts may be interchangeable and they might use the same part numbers since the changes are not expected to be major (different shock/spring rates which may not even look any different). But until the 2010 hits the dealer lots and they can order 2010 parts so we can look at them, it is hard to know for sure. My theory on this is that Hyundai will be a little more open about this subject once the 2009 models are all sold (that does not necessarily mean they will swap it for free, but they will tell us whether it could be done). Right now, HMA seems like they don't want to discuss it at all until 2009 units are all sold.
