  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Using Bluetooth to Play Music from Phone

I have the 2013 base model,

Overall I agree with you that for a luxury car the stereo/Bluetooth is substandard. You shouldn't have to have tech or premium pkg to have those functions available. The other problem is the lack of aftermarket options to replace the stock head unit.

You have a 2013 model introduced in 2012. That means the technology package was finalized in 2010 or so. Very old by today's standards. Probably was a good idea at the time.

As for aftermarket head units, just not enough volume to justify the expense of making one. A lot more Chevys are sold than Genesis or Porsche or Land Rover. Much as you'd like to have one, I bet you'd not invest in the tooling for it. Just no return to be had.

I guess we always want what we don't have, lol. I still love this car and can live with its uniqueness. However if I ever upgrade to another genesis, it will most certainly have the tech package😁

No, they did not tell me about difference between r-spec or base model. They just told me Genesis did not have this ability.

It could be they just did not know and did not want to find out. The service writer said, he talked to his bluetooth "expert" at the dealership.

It could be all BS...

Can anybody here with base 2012+ model confirm what my dealership said is true?
I watched a video on YouTube and the 2013 owner said that bluetooth on genesis wasn't introduced until the 2014 models

Sooooooooo.... what is the best option so far ?

1. Invest ~$30-40 into some Apple Music converter (looks kind of semi-legal to me  ) and dump nunch of MP3s onto 32-64... GB USB stick

2. Invest into some 15-50 Bluetooth adapter to fill that USB/AUX 3.5 mm jacks and forget about that spot?

Thoughts or actual examples/recommendations?

As for me, I think the best option is to choose an Apple Music converter to enjoy the music. I know one is the best and had used it for a long time. This one is DRmare Apple Audio Converter, which can make Apple Music to plain audios with high quality. And then you can keep the Apple Music forever for using on your devices.

Hey there folks, sorry in advance if this has been covered numerously elsewhere but please be patient seeing as it's my first post.
Recently purchased a 2012 4.6 sedan with tech package(touch screen). I linked my phone over bluetooth to find out that I only have access as a phone call not to stream any music. I know that when test driving a couple models I was able to stream and was wondering if anyone has the steps/settings available to share so I can troubleshoot it? I'm loving the car and am excited for this forum.

FYI- I do have a bluetooth adapter I've been using in the meantime and make sure it's off when trying to connect and have also tried the USB with no avail. Samsung note 10+ is device trying to connect

Thanks in advance

The ‘12 Tech package models cannot stream BT audio. The Base and Premium package models (like mine) do stream BT audio.

Interestingly, you say you have a touchscreen. The ‘12 Tech package did not come with a touchscreen, but rather a controller dial on the console.
