  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

OK I know most people will say "just do it if you like it", but I'm asking for your opinion regarding appearance. Things are dead around this forum and maybe we can liven it up a bit...
The chrome hood ornament which seems to be called Pegasus (in South Korea) is available as an optional add-on through the dealer. On one hand I think it adds a touch of class and on the other I think it's a tad over the top. That and it might be a bit dated, who puts stand-up ornaments on nowadays? Other than RR that is (Spirit of Ecstasy).
So what do you say, yea or nay? And those of you who might have added it, how do you feel about it now?

I've been torn on this. If I delete a majority of the chrome on the car I think it could be worth it but I'm not sure. I really need to see this hood ornament in person to decide.

Personally, I'm not a fan. When we opened this store in 2015, we got 3 Equus in. We put them on 2 of them. The buyers of those 2 had us remove them and put the normal Equus hood badge on. The 3rd one that we didn't put one on, the buyer had us add it, but he was over 80 years old, so it's more in line with his time. One other customer bought his Equus from out of state used and it had one. He also had us remove it. So I'm going to go with most people are not fans of them, from my experience that is.

It's gaudy AF, and it's not even a Genesis logo. It rivals the gold plating crap in the late 90's.

Not a fan. If it worked like the RR statue, ie. Retractable at the press of a button....maybe.

Get the angry duck!

Ha, not an Oregon fan! But it looks like it's mounted on the hood of my old '62 MKII Jaguar with a Leaping Cat delete.

Well so far it looks like an overwhelmingly positive reaction, everyone likes the Pegasus ornament. If the sentiment keeps up I just might do it.

If you do it ironically, I'm in full support!

And your suggestion is to have it gold plated first, based on your earlier post? That does sound especially appealing. I have some old gold leaf lying around, but not enough to do all the stainless trim and that might end up clashing.

Nothing says classy like gold plating!

The customer who liked it was over 80? I think we see a trend here. Don't ask, though I will say I'm not over 80. My grandkids tell me that I finally bought the right car for my age. What did they mean by that?

Just noticed your misplaced comma. I'm sure you meant "If you do it, ironically I'm in full support."

You bought a 10 year old Buick Park Avenue? ;)
Lol. No, but I drive it like one. The funny thing is I currently drive any one of four different vehicles. I have an F250, a Miata, a Saab 9-5 and the Equus. I drive every one differently without even thinking about it. I have to admit that I drive the Equus very...serenely...might be the word. That’s why I’m thinking the Pegasus hood ornament just might be the frosting on the old fart cake. Kinda completes the picture, ya know?

That Pegasus ornament is tacky....IMO

Wellll...any car that sells for over 30k is inherently tacky, so we’re just gilding the lily aren’t we?

My informal poll is 50/50 in terms of friends & family that like it and don't. My "car" friends think it's posing, particularly because of the RR implication. In fact, a total stranger thought it was an RR when I pulled next to him. I bought two flat Equus emblems and have already replaced the Hyundai on the trunk, but I'm holding off on replacing Pegasus for now.

I bought it and was gonna install it but the dealer won’t do it... I went to a body shop and they want $150 to $500 depending on how the attached emblem comes off...
We tried to remove it but it’s not budging and I fear it’ll be the $500 price tag as it will damage the paint under the emblem. The Pegasus base will not cover the existing plaque space...

Hi Dan. There are lots of YouTube videos about how to remove the badge. They’re held on with very tenacious double sided tape. The proper technique will have the whole job done in less than an hour without marring the paint. Watch half a dozen videos after searching “badge removal” and select a method you want to use. Any marque and any badge will do, they are all held on the same way.
