What surprises have you "found" in your car...

I got really familiar with the Gene my co-worker bought, and I was kinda bummed because it spoiled the surprise after I took ownership of mine.

I found the CD changer does not change the CDs automaticaly, you have to manually change them via voice control or sterring wheel control, otherwise, it plays the same CD over again.....????

I don't own a Genesis, but it sounds like you have a setting to repeat. Many cars have this setting. On some cars there is a way to scroll through "random, repeat, repeat disc" etc.

Ron, Welcome to the Forums and thanks for signing up. This does not sound right. I personally have never used the CD player but what you're describing does not sound like a normal function. Maybe someone that uses their CD player often can chime in and help.

Chiming in, but I don't use mine often. I can confirm that it does play the same CD over and over. To be honest, I haven't investigated further since I normally use MP3s on a USB stick. But I bought a couple of CDs the other day and couldn't wait to try them, and I had to manually select the second CD when the first started to loop. There must be a setting for this, I imagine.

My CDs must be changed manually in my car. Since I like to hear audiobooks while commuting, it isn't convenient, but not the worst thing. Loading cds onto Ipod didn't work because after turning off the motor, the Ipod starts playing somewhere else and I lose my place. FF and RR is cumbersome. If anyone knows how to get the CD's to change automatically, I'd love to hear about it.

If you lower your visor in order to use the mirror (hey, I'm a girl!) the light comes on when you slide the mirror cover open. If you return the visor to the original position, the light will turn off, regardless of whether you've slid the mirror cover back.

Intuitively, though, if you lower the visor, use the lighted mirror for your makeup (of course NEVER while driving! ), but then push the visor forward (as if to block the sun), the light will automatically go out...it knows the visor is too far forward to be used for grooming, and it doesn't need to have its makeup light on!

Acey, I've seen guys use the lighted mirror too. You know, checking for food in their teeth (not while driving, of course). I like the visor and mirror features too. Just had a thought..will the light will go out automatically if the car is left parked? Probably not..will check on that.

It's not a North American model. It refers to the air suspension, which is not available here, as well as the temperature in Celsius. My guess would be the Middle East model.

Put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus on at 12K miles for safety concerns - the stock Dunlops hydroplaned too much for my liking. Found a big difference in wet performance, they are quieter, and it may be just the "new tool" thing, but I think they handle better on the twisty roads in the mountains here....not that we would drive fast in the beautiful mountains roads....

Um, I don't know anything about air suspension. But you can reset the temperature to Fahrenhiet or Celsius yourself. Our Genesis was made for the Canadian market so the speedometer is in kph and the odometer in km. But I noticed that the temperature was in Fahrenheit. I complained to the salesman at the time we picked the car up and he reset the temp to Celsius. He did have some difficulty though figuring out how to do it.

I know, I was just responding to the question about the image earlier in this thread that shows an air suspension option. The temperature doesn't alone rule out the North American model, but I do know that the Middle East Genesis model does have the suspension option and the Celsius display would fit for that market.

As I have mentioned in another thread regarding the Dunlops. The groove/thread on the Dunlops (on the driver side of the car) are pointing in the opposite direction for squirting out water.

Discovered a beautiful bluetooth feature today:
I was walking with some friends towards my geni in a parking lot, and was speaking on my cellphone at the same time. We sat in and i started the car. The bluetooth seemlessly took over in the car and put me directly in Private Mode! Awesome!

Just noticed the other night that the USB/Aux jacks in the center storage bin are backlit when the parking lights are on, making it easier to find them at night.

I discovered this last night while I was waiting in my car for my daughter to show up.
The car was off and I turned on the interior light above me, so I can read my newspaper, and the light stayed on for approximately 10 minutes before shutting off. In previous cars (Honda Accord) that light would stayed on until you switched it off. I think that feature is a good thing which will prevent you from forgetting the light is on when you leave the car.

If you will turn the ignition off while shifter is in the "N" position the radio will keep playing.

I guess this should have been obvious but we discovered that the car doors won't lock with the button on the door handle if a key fob is left inside the car.
