Just got a new 2010 4.6

I would not be shocked to learn of a TSB if we're only talking about bushings, shocks, etc.

Springs, shocks, bushings (this comes straight from and official Hyundai website). If Hyundai has sold 2,000 Genesis sedans for the last 18 months and the changes cost $1000 including parts and labor (at their cost) that would be $36,000,000. That is a lot of Mula.

Maybe some of my numbers are off a bit, but it would be very expensive at even half that amount and I don't see them doing it for free. So far HMA has denied that the changes can even be retrofitted at customer expensive, but we shall see what happens once the 2009 stock is all sold.

That should be the case, since there are so many people who like the suspension the way it is......im sure those owners would not care to have there cars retro-fitted..........hyundai should only reto-fit the owners who made complaints to hyundai..then everyone would be happy............

I can absolutely guarantee you that those who claim the current suspension is perfect and have attacked those who complained about it, would be first in line to have theirs swapped out if Hyundai did it for free.

Then you are ABSOLUTELY incorrect with your guarantee. I cannot speak for all the others who are happy with their suspension but I do for me! Not only would I not be in line for a suspension change, I would not have it swapped out.

Just because something is free does not make it desirable to everyone!

You should be more careful with your sweeping generalizations and do NOT presume to speak for me!

Well those who said they did not have a problem with the suspension probably will after they drive the 2010....the abnormal bounce and lack of bump control is gone.......it is tuned like it should have been all along................imo..................

Test drove a 2010 V8 Tech today. WOW... what a difference from the 2009 to the 2010. Will be trading in my 2009 V6 Tech for a 2010 V8 Tech and yes Im taking it in the shorts. The dealer is actually working on all the numbers and I will probably be home tomorrow with the car. So I hope my saga has come to an end here. Not ready or willing to go thru this again for any car.

Hyundai really goofed on this one for the 2009 cars. If they dont work out the details and make the 2009 customers happy they will not make it in the luxury market. The competition is too great to kill off your first season customers like that.

I will post back here if I actually go thru with the deal tomorrow. ugh... Im pretty sure money doesnt grow on trees, but if anyone finds that tree please let me have a couple of branches from it ....

One other question. Does anyone know for sure if the 2010's come with the black and brown interior?

I have made a number of changes to my 2009 Geneses sedan and to trade for a 2010 would have to swallow an unaffordable cost penalty ( remember i paid full MSRP for my 09) additionally I have to remove my full LED kit, full bade replacement, the chrome wheels and the replaced tires, etc.

I would be able to buy the new springs, dampers, bushings, etc. for my 09 to get the 2010 ride for a smal portion of the trade penalty, I really can't take the ride. i have sever cervical spinal stenosis and it really hurts.

So the question is how do I find out the part numbers for the 09 and 10 springs, shocks, etc. So I can then determine which ones changed and then order them.

I would discuss this with the General Manager of the dealership where you purchased the car. If that does not help, discuss it with HMA. But you need to have a little patience since the the 2010's just arrived and HMA probably does not have any 2010 parts yet (some early buyers of the 2009 model had to pay outrageous insurance in 2008 because HMA had no parts locally in case of an accident and any needed parts had to be imported from Korea).

Also, until all the 2009 units are sold, HMA doesn't really want to discuss the suspension issue (dealers have complained when HMA mentioned it before and posted info on their website--which was quickly withdrawn).

I don't have any inside information (except for a customer feedback on-line chat session with John Krafcik, HMA CEO in February with about 20 other Hyundai owners). I just have some observation abilities and some common sense.

But keep us informed. I intend to move forward on this issue with my dealer/HMA in another few months.

Are you talking to Seattle Genesis? He owns a Hyundai Genesis 3.8 V6 Sedan according to your website. Bot V6 and V8 have pretty much same suspension characteristic for 2009 (and I assume 2010). I think it is pretty clear that he is considering doing a trade for 2010 because of the improvement in the suspension. There isn't anything else about differences between 2009 and 2010 that would justify taking beating like that on a trade-in of the 2009 model.

Correct I was inquiring if he test drove a 2009 V8. According to our poll (as un scientific as it is) there seems to be more people un happy with there v6 suspensions than the v8. Just want to see if he is comparing apples to apples. Maybe he is trading for the Smart Cruise

I DOUBLE GUARANTEE that as someone who is happy with my suspension I would most certainly not ask Hyundai to swap it out for a new one even if it was for free. If I am happy why would I take the risk that the new one would not make me happy.

Your remarks smack of retribution and vindication ..... this is not vindication for you and those like you who complained loudly that there is a major problem with the suspension...... as I said before just because you can improve something does not mean it is a problem to begin with... it just means it can be made better.

I will reserve judgment on whether the suspension is indeed "better" at handling bumpy roads until I have heard from more sources and perhaps until I have driven one myself..... If Hyundai has indeed found a way to make an already great suspension even better more power to them......

I'm with you on this one. I love my Genesis as is. Is the new suspension better? Maybe, but why would I risk altering a car I'm already 99% satisfied with? Some people who I shall leave nameless really need to stop picking fights about this and let it go.

As I seldom have to remind me nephew and niece, just because you've convinced yourself of something does not make it true. Don't state things that are opinion as fact, it just makes you look stupid.
