  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 Lease Comparisons and Discussion (USA)

I got a crazy inflated lease quote a couple years ago on the car I drive currently. I simply responded that I would have expected it to be "X" amount and explained why by knowing what my trade car was worth, the going rate of the model I was interested in, and a fairly good idea of what the residual would be. In the end I did end up getting it for "X" amount. I imagine this sales tactic works on a big enough percentage of customers for them to keep doing it. From the buyers point of view it seems dishonest or unethical. However from a Dealers point of view they probably figure if you think the car is worth $750 a month for lease is it a crime to accept it?

As @FornicatorSteve said the MF is inflated by 10 times (maybe a typo?) but IDK what the f***ck is Tax on Collected items. Looks like dealer BS.

Yeah I'm trying to figure it out. IL has some jacked up taxes so I wouldn't be surprised if it is some special tax from the state (or city of Chicago, even worse for taxes). Years ago, IL charged SALES TAX on the full capitalized cost (lease selling price AND the monthly lease payment amount). That changed Jan 1 2015, where the cap cost is no longer taxed, but the down payment and lease monthly payment are taxed.

I also researched and found out the the City of Chicago levies an ADDITIONAL 8% use tax (8% of the total lease payments). Chicago is a great city. Other than the insane taxes here. But I know there are some other states worse then here. Ahhhhh - I just wanna G70 and not get screwed! lol.

The money factor they're quoting you is 10x too high. Should be .00007 for an AWD and .00006 for a RWD.

Yeah I already called out the Sales Mgr. on that and he said I'll need to talk to the Finance Manager, which is what I'm doing this weekend. I don't care if the MF is the bottom lowest, but it's sure as hell gonna be closer to .00007 than it will be to what they quoted.

Just kind of fact gathering at this point. I know tax rates and dealer fees will be different. My A4 is coming off lease and Audi is throwing some cash at me so im trying to get some idea of what to expect. I am in Colorado so our G70 selection is limited too so it will be a fun process!

FWIW, Im coming out of an A4 as well. I test drove the G70 the same day I test drove an S4. The lease numbers for the g70(with circle or corp discount) were not far off from the S4. I ordered the S4. If things dont work out when the S4 arrives, I will absolutely get the G70.

I have enjoyed my a4 but i havent been impressed with the build quality. Had a water pump go back around 20K or so, ECU went haywire at 25K and it was in the shop for 10 or so days because..Audi. I still love the S4 so ill check it out at my dealer. If you dont mind me asking, what numbers did you arrive at for the S4?

Anyone in IL with a G70 lease? I'm attaching the first quote I received. They aren't even close on the selling price and all that, haven't factored my trade, so please don't focus on that. There's a line item on the lease quote called "Tax on Collected Items". I have no idea what this is. The state of IL, to my knowledge, only charges tax on the lease payment amount. Not the cap cost (used to be that way).

I'm going into the dealer Saturday to discuss this, pricing, etc. But if anyone else in IL has a G70 lease, do you see this on your agreement?

(note: circled in red). Thanks all!
It sure looks like the "Tax on Collected Items" includes tax on the residual value because there is already tax on the lease portion in the monthly payments. Do the math on this and the numbers work. Interesting that the actual tax 10.4972% is higher than the two shown for your area. That may be the extra tax you mention...

^ I almost got an S4 as well. I too came from a ‘13 A4.

Feature for feature...the S4 Prestige with all options was still $9k more after all incentives. This was back in November.

G70 all day long...zero regrets.

Have to say, you got one of the very very few that had issues. Ive had multiple Audis over the past decade and not one issue whatsoever. Build quality at top of their game right now. That being said, 36/12 $647/mo with only $1k out of pocket at signing.

If you are purchasing, then yeah, its a no brainer, G70 all day long. However, if leasing, its extremely close.

Wasn’t for me. I was looking at leasing. S4 Prestige fully loaded was $9k more. MF and RV very similar.

Im going Premium +, didnt care about Prestige. However, you say it was 9k more, but was that MSRP or what the car was discounted to? Also, they are practically giving away A4/S4 right now because 2020 model coming out soon.

You have to go feature for feature. Otherwise pointless to compare. Both cars with discounts still $9k difference.

That is what i was hoping to hear. My dealer has a 19 on its way and if they can discount it enough, i may bite. All depends on payment.

Some features are intrinsic though. Audi dealer 15 minutes from me, Genesis dealer 45 minutes from me. Audi pays last 2 payments and lets me order a car the way I want from factory. Genesis says I have to wait till I can turn my car in and then hopefully find a car thats on the ground already. Only technical features Im giving up really from the S4 to the G70 is: HUD, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep etc. Those arent selling points that would sway me if lease for lease they were identical or extremely close.

Those are BIG features. Very worthwhile.

I've had them on a previous car. Not as worthwhile to me. But I can understand someone who wants them.

I’ve seen some 3.3 G70 lease deals mentioned on here close to $100 less a month.

I think it really depends where you live and what the tax rate is. I'd be more than willing to give Genesis a shot, but I'd have to wait till September and pray there is a car configured the way I want on the ground somewhere.

Why September? Is that when your S4 arrives. Also, what is your preference as far as configuration of the G70
