  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,

I though I would share a video showing the tire noise on my used Michelin tires after 16k miles of having them on the car and rotating them every 5k miles. I just put on new Pirelli P7 tires on and was amazed how soft, comfortable and quiet my car got again. I am hoping that these will stay quiet much longer than the Michelins. Below is the video from the inside of the cabin driving with Michelins on and then Pirellis:

The best part of it is, I got these tires for $674 (including tax) due to Pep Boys' glitch in the system. They normally run these tires for approx $210 a tire.
I placed an order through Pep Boys and they received tires with the wrong size (smaller, which would explain the low price). However, the service adviser said that he will custom order the right size and still charge me the original, cheap price. Nice! It was $151 per tire vs $197 on tire rack. I did the alignment for which I paid $90 and the funny thing is that they forgot to charge me $89 for mounting and balancing the tires... Wow! However, I will go back to the shop and give the adviser a good tip for his help. If you are due for new tires, go to Pep Boys now and take advantage of their glitch :)

Recently changed tires on my wife's Infinity Q50 from Bridgestone runflats, to these Pirelli P7's and it's like a new car. Part of it might be eliminating runflats, but the noise is drastically reduced, biggest difference I've ever seen a tire make. Now I'm jealous, I want them on my 2015 Genesis!

You can never go wrong with P7's. I put them on my previous 2013 Azera and it made a night and day different. You should try to get this deal through Pep Boys before they figure it out and you have to pay $1k for them

I installed Pirelli P7 tires on a Toyota Avalon (also replacing Michelin MXM4). I chose them to save a little money thinking I would probably be trading the car in within a year. I also was very satisfied with the tires. Ended up keeping the car for two years. Just last week I replaced the MXM4's on my Genesis 3.8 with Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 also with great results (so far). All three of the tires mentioned are premium tires and excellent choices. Although I have not been as happy with the last sets of Michelin's on the Avalon or Genesis as I was with their tires in the past. I thought I would be a Michelin customer for life. The Pirelli P7's opened my eyes. Cost wise the Pirelli and Continental tires mentioned are a better value in my opinion.

How do you justify the atrocious treadwear though?

I had P7 on my 2017 Azera Tech (245/40/19) and put 12k miles on them before I sold the car. No problems at all and they stayed quiet as they were on day 1. There are different models of the Pirelli P7's. The best one is the P7 Cinturato All Season Plus UTQG 700 A A

I had the Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires on my car and did not have any road noise (they were super quiet, better than any other tire I have had) right up to when they wore down to 2/32 to 3/32nds (and at only at 18,000 miles). Michelin covered them as they wore out so quickly, but I had to get other tires from them, so I went with slightly less, but more aggressive PS AS3 + tires, and those are much louder (understandably so being more aggressive tread and an XL sidewall)

Just replaced the MXM4's on my 2015 3.8.
Only got 24K out of them. No issues other than the tread wear.
Installed Pirelli P7 all season plus 2's. Newer model.
700 vs 500 tread wear rating on the MXM4's.
We will see.
