Shut up and take my money.
Seriously though -- that sort of quality mount with lightening cable already integrated is exactly what I'm looking for. Alright, so from what I can tell this is what you've got in your photo:
- Holder: Adjustable iPhone X Holder for Lightning to USB Cable (iPhone X in my case)
- Mount: ProClip Console Mount
Is that about right? Pricey, but I'm picky so that would work perfectly for me.
Questions: Does the mount leave any evidence of its existence at all if you were to uninstall it? e.g. is there any visible wear/damage on the leather/plastic anywhere? Also -- does it intrude on the passengers space at all? It doesn't seem to but just wanted to confirm what your experience has been.
that's the same setup I use, same part numbers. you use your own lighting cable, it clips into the mount.
yes pricey, but FWIW, the phone holder works for multiple iPhone models, I've actually had this one since I had an iphone6, it's adjustable with or without case, and with thin and thick cases, mine has seen a 6/7/7plus/8plus and thin cases through otter boxes, and shorty will have an XS max as I am due for an upgrade this month (company pays for it so yay, freebie for me). since it is a 2 part system it can be moved from car to car, mine has gone through a Camaro, Lexus RCF, and now the G80, of course you have to replace the car mount. but that's half the price going forward.
does it intrude: no intrusion for the passenger, it does block the upper
cup holder a bit, normal sized cups fit, supersized or larger coffee tumblers will bump against the phone, while they still fit, the cup will likely be touching the phone if not pushing the mount outward and if you rotate the phone horizontal, then it rests across that
cup holder so no cup will fit. That is my only complaint about this setup for this car, I've never had that issue in other cars.
visible damage: no it clips onto the console. I will say this however, with the larger phone (currently a 8plus) I noticed it did start to vibrate while driving, I remedied this by using some 3m double sided tape on the top lip and the bottom of the car mount where it connects to the console, this keeps it from moving and vibrating, and while I don't believe the 3m will leave any residue, but keep that in mind if you opt to secure it the way I did.
having used pro-clips in many cars since the early 2000s, they have never left any marks or damage, they are deigned to clip between the dash parts with minimal intrusion and no removal of parts, they literally take 30 seconds to install on most cars.
