  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Driver Area Size

So I went and tried a g70, 80, and g90. Wouldn't even come close to getting in the 70. The 80 and 90 felt the same up front. The front opening isn't all that wide and with the small window space it does feel a little enclosed. Biggest complaint is hip space I think. With my wallet and keys in my front pocket it was definitely uncomfortable

Perhaps try the Stinger as well? It certainly has more room than the G70, but it's more sporty than the G80 (IMO). But then again, if the G80/90 were still tight, then the Stinger may not be much better (if at all).

I can understand the G70 feeling too tight for a bigger than average person. ☹

I think the problem here is the door opening size for ingress. Genesis sedans actually have pretty small doors, and I didn't check with the Stinger but it may likely have the same problem. Still worth trying at least. Otherwise, a SUV/crossover may be better if entry is difficult. The GV80 could be worth waiting for, but it's a while off.

I agree. I liked the Stinger GT2 quite a bit more than the G80 Sport.

Color has an effect on sense of size. I took my wife to see a G70 for her to "try on" and she had no trouble with entry or exit. Rear seat was snug as we all know. The car was in a showroom, not outdoors in the sun and with an all black interior she felt it was too small and close. I bought with light gray interior and that makes a world of difference to her, and to me. It just feels bigger. I will consider lighter color floor carpet mats than the black originals.

The G70 has three positions at exit too but unfortunately what doesn't have is enough room.
My 3 settings simply do not work (well). Options are: i) seat does not slide back on exit; ii) seat supposed slide back a little on exit; iii) "extended" - seat supposed to slide back more. Options ii) and iii) are the same on my G70 and the seat does not slide back more than 1-2 inches. Very annoying.

How much travel is left when you are in your driving position?

Sounds like something is wrong to me. I'm 5'11 and sit relatively far back. I get plenty of travel on "option 3"

On an unrelated note, my seating position is pushed a bit further back because the dead pedal is definitely way too far forward

What did the dealer say when you asked about it?
If your seat is way back to start it does not do very much, Once back, can you manually move it much more?

Manually I can move it back 1/2 foot or so. I think there is an issue. My sales guy is away on holiday so I will need to wait for his return to ask

If your driving position is far away from the steering wheel then the seat won't move back when you exit.

This could explain it then. My wheel it extended to the max for my seat position. Makes getting out with the car on pretty difficult

Thanks for the reply. That's the thing - my driving position has the seat reasonably close to the wheel. Either it is a design flaw or the mechanism is wonky - I think the seat should go back at least 6 inches for easier exit.

Isn’t this a job for service not sales?
Have you sat in a showroom car? Do it move back properly?

You are absolutely right - it seems like service will need to be involved. I have not cross-checked it with a showroom car. Bear in mind, I only took possession of my car 3 weeks ago. It is very noticeable to me because my previous car (Cadillac ATS) moved back at least 6" on exit. So my frame of reference is biased.

I'm the same height as you and mine won't extend anymore. But my seat is at the lowest position for height as well which makes my feet and legs position relatively straight to the pedals like in F1.
Before I found the optimal seating position, it was set higher like on my Acura but never felt comfortable!

For the time being, you may want to set your 2nd driver position to a fully extended seat with the wheel up and retracted. That way you can deactivate the auto stuff it does and just press that upon entry/exit

That is a very smart work-around (for now). Thanks for the excellent suggestion!

Thank you everyone for your comments/suggestions. Btw - my G70 is a 2019 Dynamic 3.3 AWD - Majorca Blue. Notwithstanding my wife's suggestion to park the car at the corner of the street (she is not a fan of the brightness of the car) - I love the colour.
