  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Burger Motorsports JB4 high performance tuner for Genesis vehicles

That's exactly what it was. It was the fuel pump. For the 6MT, it's really a shame really. It's sad because I really love the car overall. I heard the 6 speed is just the tranny for the Genesis Coupe. This tranny has a bad reputation.
So do you hear it from the back driver side?
Also do you hear it on launch or even when WOT while already up to speed?

People are probably going to call me names, but I'm going to say it. The G70 Manual transmission 2.0t is trash. I test drove a friend of mine who installed a JB4 on his G70 2.0T Automatic and the car feels very different on MAP 2. It feels fast and smooth. For some reason, the manual transmission computer is limiting power somehow. The whole gearing is out of wack. Call me a little b**** but I'm not really enjoying that car. I should have bought the 3.3 or the 2.0t in automatic.

I also think I'm just a guy that loves cars that are very driver-focused. I was going to buy a used Alfa Romeo 4C but I went ahead and bought a G70 because it's more practical and it was offered in a manual transmission. Completely my mistake, I did not do my homework. I never got used to this manual transmission. I'll go ahead and see what I can get for my car and I'll buy a 4C instead.
LOL

Some folks love the 6MT. Me personally...I knew it was the 3.3T or nothing. I also knew it was very tunable.

Your JB4 works on both engines...so perhaps pop by your dealer and see what it would take to upgrade to a 3.3T. You won’t regret it. You’ll regret the Alfa as you’ll never see it (in service all the time).

Sucks dude...one really wants to enjoy their ride.

On lunch when accelerating. Yes back driver side.

Yea dude you are right. The 3.3 is amazing. I'll check out the dealer. Regarding the Alfa, the 4C is pretty reliable actually. But at the end of the day, buying an Alfa out of warranty is madness. But you only live once and you don't count when you're a car guy.

You may even be better off waiting a bit for the 2020 3.3t to drop. Maybe you'll find some better deals on a 2019 3.3t or get used to the 6MT and not want it.

Best of luck in whatever you decide to do

Thank you friends. The car has been sold for 32k. Jb4 and BMS pedal runner are for sale.

Woah...what?!?!

Didn’t you get a 3.3T??? :(

I think you should log a couple more runs. In fact, I think the best way to go is to stay in 3rd gear - drive @ ~1500 rpm, then quickly hit the gas pedal to the notch, right before the kickdown clicker. Once you reach about 3.5k-4k rpms, then push the gas pedal passed the clicker all the way up to redline. Once you redline it, let off the gas and slow down to a safe place where you can save the log. Repeat this 2-3 times and post those logs.

I hope that makes sense. This way you get more detail in the log. I will do the same here shortly.

Edit: the only thing that concerns me is this dip, circled... It might be fine and normal, but the boost looks relatively stable while ignition is dropping.

Doing more details logs of just 3rd gear pulls will give us more info.
3rd gear pull and 0-110+

You may want to post on N54Tech. Terry normally looks at the CSV file itself to analyze and not just the graph.

Those graphs look perfect to me! If it were my car, I would assume it's running perfectly in Map 2 with your current octane. The ignition curve almost exactly mirrors the boost curve, which is how it should be (ie when boost increases, ignition timing decreases in an inverse relationship - pretty much every degree of timing is equivalent to a lb of boost).

How does it feel? Also, not hearing any knock?

Though, like @NLJ stated above, posting it so Terry can see it would be ideal - he knows more than I do!

I still have yet to do my logs. I'm hoping I can do it tomorrow, though it has already cooled down a little here (mid 80's vs mid 90's).

Feels really good. No knocking even though the temps are 105-110° here

Nan man. I realized that sedans are not for me. I don't like electronic etc. I used the drive a 1964 beetle before my miata.

However my wife adore the G70 and she needs a new car. She wants to buy a G70 and she can't drive stick.

She is going buy herself a white 3.3 but does not want to tune it or anything. We went to the dealer today and they bought my car for 32k and we have another appointment to see if my wife wants to go ahead and pull the trigger.

I basically lost 6 grand in 3 months lol. I bought the car for 38k out the door in May. I feel stupid.

Thank you for your help my Canadian brother.

Well shit...I wish you guys the best of luck. You were so into the car with the tuning, etc :(

I thought for sure you would have figured out a killer deal!!

So, now that the temperature is really hot outside, looks like my ECU is dropping timing big time between 2500-3000 rpm (up to 6º!). Evidently my engine has a hot spot at that range when it's warm outside running on Map 2 and Portland 92 Octane gas (which I've read is actually really shite due to lack of state regulations, and is no better than 91).

Have not heard any knock, nor have I felt any significant drops in power, but I figure I'll switch back to Map 1 just to be extra safe. Been between 90-95 degrees out here. I'll focus on more power via bolt-ons for the time being.

Check these two pages from Tork Motorsports:

PM'd. Sucks to see that you took such a big hit for 3 months of use. Keep us posted on what you get next!

Got my extensions today from the guy off the stinger forum! Looks like they will work great!

Now that you say it, yeah there is a couple pieces haha
no big deal, but yeah they look like they will work perfectly. Big thing for me is they are nice and short

Well with Dragy my 0-60 time on map 2 is 5.31. On map 0 stock 5.73
Temp 105 humidity 35%
Managed a 1/4 mile run at 13.46 @ 105.36
Having lived in the Portland area for so many years and having cooler temps I’m guessing these high temps are killing my times.

Seems like there is so much lag out of the hole even with launch control
