  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Long post warning...

I know what I want 3.3t RWD Siberian Ice w/ Sport Package and gray stitch interior (not red). The only cars that match this exact spec are mostly on east coast. I have reached out to one local dealer/salesman and do not get any follow-up. I have other Hyundai/Genesis dealers in my area, but question: Do dealers want to go through the process of locating and shipping a car for a single sale or are they just trying to unload their remaining inventory for the year?

Would it be better to just wait for 2020 models and place an order? I like the 1.9% financing offers currently, but won’t accept any other build of the g70. Any feedback from people with dealership experience is appreciated. I don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to car searching and haggling so seeing what the best option is. Thx!

If you find the car you want...and can do a remote deal...travel to get it. So f’ing worth it.

Tons of folks on here have done it.

The fact that you have a local dealer for service...priceless.

If the dealer is worth their mettle, they'll find you the car you want so they can get the sale! This is what happened with me, at least. First I test drove the car and left for the day saying I'll shop other cars. The next day I came in saying I wanted the car, but only a lease in a certain spec.I wanted the advanced 3.3t RWD for 15k miles because it was a good deal for my budget. I wanted the tan interior. They found the car in the same day I told them the spec and had it at their dealership by 6 pm that day. I got to drive off the lot.

As far as waiting for 2020s, I think the 2019s might be a better deal because they'll be cheaper once the '20s are released. Unless you really want the power trunk (I wouldn't blame you), then there aren't too many changes between the two. Entirely up to your budget tho, do whichever works best for you.

I have that car. My dealer looked all over an found one with the gray stitching in Loma Linda CA and made a dealer trade and got it to Scottsdale. If there are any left you may have to deal direct with the dealer and fly out and drive back. From my research in mid June there were only a handful in the country with the gray stitching.

Good luck.

I just went through that. Most dealers seem to be uninterested to sell you a car that they haven't on their lot (wrong strategy for a luxury brand if you ask me). I ended up buying it through Earnhardt Genesis in Scottsdale, AZ and have it shipped. Irony is they did not have it on their lot but located one within one hour and we're willing to deal with me. They have one of the largest inventory in the country (about 60 G70 last month).

That’s where I bought mine. Jimmy Tonelli the sales manager went above and beyond to make the deal happen.

Do you live in Scottsdale? I live in Gilbert

I have a dealer that can do everything the way I want but with red stitching... but $6400 off sticker with 1.9% for 60 months. That’s a pretty good deal on a brand new car/model

Mine was $5800 off and came with a clear bra $900 already

If your local dealer is not receptive to helping you find the car you want, start reaching out to other dealers. You can either make a deal with a dealer who has the car you want, or work with a closer dealer who works to get you that car (a lot of the dealers will trade cars to get a customer-specific car). There are quite a few great Genesis dealers to work with and then there seem to be a few who don't care if they sell any Genesis cars. Find someone you can work with.

My first purchase attempt was with a dealer 30 miles south of Atlanta and 275 miles from me. He said delivery was no problem, he had just returned from Tallahassee with a new car delivery. The negotiation by distance was halting and unsatisfactory. I had a second preferred exterior color and that vehicle was twenty miles away and an eager dealer. If the Georgia dealer were more interested I would have pursued his car. Distance was not the issue for me, it was dealer interest.

Is that the Hood Aplique or truly a clear bra? How does it look?

Clear Bra
Full bumper, front of hood & fenders, mirror caps, door handle cups & door edge guards.

It’s about as invisible as they get.

That makes perfect sense to me. I would move on from the dealers that did not work with you--and work with the people/person/salesperson you like. I have bought cars in different states and either driven or had shipped to me (the shipped was at their cost)--so you have the right idea.
There are threads of several experiences with Genesis dealers and the purchasing experience with them--but you have been thru this enough you likely know what to expect.
I was fortunate on my G70 that my local dealer was terrific to work with.

I tried in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia (Genesis of Lithia Springs had one corresponding to my spec but did absolutely nothing to try to sell it and took forever to answer to each of my e-mails, decided not to do business with them)...

Did you start by phone or by email? I think you have to get things started by phone and get a relationship going. Then go to email to when things in writing.

I agree and I did so. I need a name to connect to and a voice to recall.
I started by phone to find the right person for distance negotiating (so he said).
It was 3/4/5 July and perhaps he was too busy. I can be kind since I am much happier with my result.

Glad you are a happy camper now.
