Any car with 50,000 miles may need at least minor wear stuff like serpentine belts, etc. Any car that ages is susceptible to parts wearing or breaking. Luxury cars have more electronics, motors, solenoids, relays, switches than can go bad. As long as you realize that and can tolerate the pain of some repairs, you are OK. The people that sell them tell you they are there to help you but the reality is, they make money from you. Some people make out with a few repairs, others never make a claim.Hello All, I just purchased a 2017 G80 with 50K miles on it. Should I be worried about long term reliability? Do I even need an extended warranty? Thanks for your insights!
Probably tires. It is the quietest car I ever had. You can either change the tires or save money by cranking up the radio. Thanks for your great advice. So far this car has gotten regular oil change and tire rotations that's it. Dealer who serviced this car said nothing major is needed till 60K service and no issues with the car. BTW, would you know why car noise is too much! Is this because of tires or is this a problem with Genesis G80's
Hers has Michelin Pilot A/S 3's.Thanks for your tips. I was leaning towards HPP/GPP than third party, your point helps make final decisions.
BTW, what kind of tire does your wife have on her Genesis! i do think this is more of a tire issue. Car is very quiet on concrete but on bit rough road/highway it rumbles with lots of cabin noise.
I appreciate your help and glad to see such a supportive forum helping fellow members.
Also, when it comes to the warranty, you might be in a little different situation that I was when I got mine.
I bought my car as a CPO, so I was eligible to get the Hyundai CPO Wrap coverage....because mine is technically a Hyundai since it's a 2015. My dealer only offered third party warranties. I call maybe 20 different Hyundai dealerships before I found one who would sell to me at a good price and without seeing the car. But again...mine is a Hyundai. Yours is a Genesis. In other words, I don't know what your options for a warranty are. Especially at 50K miles already. A lot of dealers wanted to see the car first. Not an option unless they were close. In the end I had to send my CPO checklist to a dealer to prove it was a legitimate Hyundai CPO vehicle. I don't even think Genesis has a CPO program but I could be wrong.
