  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have prepared Genesis G90 for another night review. Genesis is selling G90 at a bargain. But can it compete with Mercedes S-class? And let me show you the Genesis G90 under the moon light. Let’s go for a night drive.

2019 Genesis G90

-5.0 V8 - 425hp (6,000rpm) / 383 lb.ft of torque (53.0kg.m) (5,000rpm)
-204.9x75.4x58.9x124.4
-0-60 accel: 5.9 sec.
-06-0 braking: 115.1 ft.

Competition: Mercedes Benz S-class, BMW7Series, Audi A8

Current model, no. The new G90, to be seen.

Service is the big issue, Genesis does not compare to BMW, Mercedes.

I am trading a MB AMG C63 for the 2020 G90, I have had 2 Equuses and one G90. loved them

Perhaps. But.... on my G90 I doubt I'll ever have to pay $1700 for and oil change like I did last summer on my X5 diesel (included the prescribed changing all inside/outside filters and a brake line flush).

Correct I paid $1,200 for the service on my Amg c63, my equus and G90 service at no charge for three years and valet pickup

Service on the Genesis is the worst of any luxury car I have ever owned. If you are out of warranty on a BMW you can obtain an extented warranty and avoid the high prices for an oil change.

However, after making an appointment with the Genesis dealer for routine service while under warranty, and going to the dealer and being DENIED an oil change on that date because they couldn't service my car - now that is PRICELESS.

Be assured, I will not be able to test what I will have to pay for an oil change on a Genesis G90 V8, after the warranty runs out, because as soon as my lease is up this wonderful vehicle is going back to Genesis. And why would I not want to continue with Genesis - because of the service Genesis provides. I don't blame the service issue on the individual dealerships, I believe for there to be a change it has to come from where the buck stops at Genesis.

Apples and oranges....
The question should be..are the buyers of the S class looking at the G90..No
Will it fulfill their expectations of service, finish, individualism and available technology. No

It is better long term to own a Genesis G90 and to buy and keep 15 years, out of Warranty S Class Mercedes, BMW 7 series are nightmarishly unreliable with high mileage. The only way to keep a S Class and have it to high mileage is to find a technician that specializes in German vehicles. Going to the dealership they will rob you on so many different services!

For me, there’s no way in ———— I’d ever own a German car. Every single person I know who has owned a BMW or Mercedes has spent several house notes repairing their vehicles. No thanks.

Exactly, Love my Genesis G90, Mercedes are nice and BMW. But reliability is no where near a Genesis G90.

Exactly, my barber has a S550 had to replace the transmission, dealership wanted $10,000 dollars for a replacement. They are nice vehicles, but the reliability is not on the same level as a Genesis G90 or Lexus LS. Both of these vehicles with rountine maintenance will go 300k 400k miles easily. Especially the V8!

No it's not, it depends on the dealership you go to, the reliability is way better then a S-Class and BMW 7series, Audi A8, only other vehicle I would consider is a Lexus. Most people that buy German vehicles the reliability is so terrible with long term usage, they will never see 200k or 300k miles. Genesis and Lexus will be the only large two saloons I will ever drive. Only german vehicle I would consider keeping long term is a Porsche 911.

That's why most lease their German cars. As for Lexus, I'm not fond of the most recent iteration. I wish they'd stuck the tried and true luxury format they'd previously used.

The lastest generation Lexus LS is not as bullet proof as the prior gen. No more V8 - now TTV6 and they've had some issues with it.

As stated many times service is very poor. The G90 is a great bargain compared to the S class Mercedes. You can buy two G90's compared to one S class Mercedes. I love my G90. But I cringe every time I walk into a service dept.

I notice little details that aren't as good as Mercedes like the leather work. The stitching is inconsistent in some areas but for the price I paid, I expect the best that Hyundai/Genesis can do but I'm not expecting S Class quality.

So true, y'all. G90 is a great attempt. If they choose to keep exporting them after the next change, I'm betting everything will be fixed. As for the shops, Hyundai needs to up the amount they are giving dealers to upgrade. Otherwise, the need to isolate the owners seeking repairs at the dealer by having the service advisors in new buildings and having runners move the cars to the service bays. I have suggested this at my local dealership, as they are in older buildings.
