  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spy shots of the long-awaited GV80.

I'm pretty sure there was an article within the last 6 months or so that quoted someone from Genesis saying, and I'm paraphrasing here, that the interiors of the new models will be spartan/plain/simple, etc. Perhaps I'm misremembering and will try to find it.
I think you're talking about a post I made. I attached the image to this post, but basically they said luxury isn't "adding things you don't need" and that they are "concentrating on the beauty of white space". I was reminded of the same post when we saw uncovered shots of the interior. Vs something like the G70, the GV80 is just too plain. The principle of "less is more" isn't wrong, but if the less isn't good enough to carry its own then it just looks cheap. The Essentia's interior followed the same principles, but it worked in that case because the simpler parts had unique curves and materials to them.

At least the exterior looks amazing. The front grille and the headlights will definitely make it stand out and seem like a car on a different price tier than even German luxury to normal folks. I like that they kept the unique bends and shape to the lower front vents. Thank God they got rid of the thick metal bar above the grille from the concept.

Thanks, that is the article I was thinking about.

While the exterior does look good, the problem can be that as a driver you only see that when walking to the vehicle but you are constantly seeing the interior while driving.

aww man.. why copy one of the ugliest suv's on the market, I get most of the desingners come from bentley, it is better than the benteyga, but still..

The concept was shown quite a while back. They aren't copying anyone.

So far I'm liking what I see. Other than the steering wheel, I really don't see anything wrong with the interior. Guess we'll see how it looks once officially unveiled, but as of right now, I'll probably buy one.

Yes the concept came out in 2017, are you aware the people who designed the car are the same people who designed the benteyga? You can’t say you don’t see any influence from Bentley especially looking at the hood crease, I’m a fan of Genesis, but let’s not ignore the facts

I agree. The designers they got from Bentley really transitioned the design from the Benteyga to the GV80. I was hoping for something more unique especially on how they don’t want to follow anyone especially how they are currently taking there design language in a different direction.

Don't see what you're seeing.

The front (headlights and grille), rear and greenhouse are pretty much different.

Only thing it really has in common w/ the Bentley is a large grille w/ Jaguar having a more similar shape to the Bentley grille.

The issue that I have w/ the front is that the pentagonal-shaped grille here is a bit too sedate (polar opposite from the F/L G90) and is shaped too much like Cadillac's sedate pentagonal grille.

Out of all the pentagonal grille shapes for Genesis, the one that seems to have the best proportions thus far is the one on the F/L G70 (it's either that or the new G80).

Genesis seems to put less thoughts in designing the interior for the gv80. It is not the ugliest, but it doesnt reflect elegance and luxury. A lot of people dont like the two spoke steering wheel design, although I dont really mind it. What I hate is they chose to use that high gloss black trim around the AC controller that also appears to be touch screen. What a bad combo.
However, we should see how the final product looks in person. There might still be some changes.

I do agree that Genesis has tremendous pressure to keep up with its parent company that has been doing great jobs in remodeling their cars.

But, I am still excited regardless. I was impressed to see how gv80 handles during its test drive in Nurburgring.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't think that interior is going to be attracting any customers. Maybe it is just the colors/designs that have been leaked but it definitely will be competing for the ugliest interior in the class. Then again, it is all a matter of personal preference and it may be loved by some.

BMW (not counting Lexus as they aren't really a competitor) already has that covered w/ their awful new dash design.

And while I like clean, minimalist designs, Audi's latest dash design has zero warmth.

While I'm comparing spy photos to real-life experience, my opinion is that the Palisade Ultimate has a far more luxurious cabin than the Genesis.

Have little doubt that the GV80's cabin will be on another level from the Palisade's w/ regard to the quality of materials, but when it comes to design and aesthetics, find the dash designs for the Palisade, Telluride, Grandeur and Cadenza more appealing.

It's like the designers here didn't know whether to go w/ sport or luxury.

But maybe things will look better when the actual surfaces/materials are shown and not the disguise covering.

Shouldn’t stop Genesis to reveal the damn car, also I see in the specs above is 67.5 inches tall, I really wonder how much headroom will you have in the 3rd row

Hyundai/Genesis typically don't reveal a new model until it is close to actually being ready for delivery (allowing 15-20 days of pre-sale).

I could be biased but I consider the new BMW dash to be the best looking in the class and the new MB the worst. 01574179502.webp2020-mercedes-benz-gle-interior.webp

New Sonata is better than the BMW...LOL

Audi by a landslide...love the hidden/streamlined HVAC vents...

I’d have to go with
1. BMW
2.Audi
3. MB
When it comes to Luxury cars and not mainstream cars.

Totally agree with you, for me BMW make the best looking suv, they just have the right proportions

That Audi interior is beautiful. Never seen it before.

You guys have actual proof and employment records that said individuals worked on the Benteyga, or is that just the accepted internet thing to say.

Yes it is a fact, both Lee & Donckerwolke worked on the benteyga, see link below from an old article. Just note, I do not hate the gv80, myself I am waiting to see the final product and hoping genesis comes out with a gv80 sport the same way they did with the current g80
