  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tesla CyberTruck

Buyers will be hipster, image seekers; the same who have to get every new version of the overpriced iPhone every time a new one hits the market. Or, true Bladerunner movie fans. Lol

I'm betting this was all one big publicity stunt and they just hacked together that truck with angular panels, no curved glass, kitchen counter for a dash because it was the easiest cheapest quickest thing to do.

What is the saying, "there is no bad publicity" or something like that. Seems to have worked given all the talk and money they made on deposits for doing f#$! all.

I'll go out on a limb and say that this truck as shown will never be sold to the public. Ever.

I honestly thought it was a joke when my brother told me about it and I was watching it for the first time... I really hope it's bogus, but I'm beginning to doubt it is.

Never know with this company. Could be totally a publicity stunt to garner all kinds of attention and talk. When the time comes, theyll unveil the real truck and it will be gorgeous (anything slightly conventional would be an improvement). Maybe a genius marketing stunt.

I ordered more than 1! It's got me pretty excited.

Battery tech/chemistry is improving rapidly, and will replace combustion engines as a majority within our lifetimes easily. I'm glad that Tesla is the frontrunner in the sector, they've positioned themselves years ahead of any other manufacturer.

I've had and driven a lot of modern luxury and supercars, and nothing compared to the fun factor of Tesla.

I do hope Hyundai stays competitive in the EV sector, I foresee manufacturers that fail to do so (or even falling too far behind in technology) going the way of failed brands.

Seriously? Good for you. Many other vehicles I'd rather spend six figures on but to each their own. Hopefully, the depreciation due to its ugliness doesnt ruin the experience.

I dont care how fast any of these electric vehicles are, I'll never buy one. A big part of the experience for me is the sound and fury of a performance, combustion engine, especially a V8.

As for the environmentally conscious, electric vehicles are far worse than conventional, combustion engine vehicles when you factor in the manufacturing waste and processes for the batteries and related components not to mention the eventual disposal issues.

No thanks

tesla is only fun on acceleration, cool feels like a ride, but reality After three or four laps at tire-torturing, the car begins to reduce power output. i dont find waiting for a charge any fun.

Couple of full power runs, then uh Oh, gotta find an outlet for a couple of hours... um, no.

you might have to call it a night .

Oh, and when all these electric cars are on the road, the power stations will be working overtime to keep up with the demand. Most power stations still run on fossil fuels, so wheres the environmental savings? Hmmmm

Forbes has a good article on the subject: Are Electric Vehicles Really Better For The Environment?

Basically, EVs are better for the environment over the course of a vehicles lifetime. Yes, power still requires fossil fuels but EVs are much better than ICE vehicles at converting that fuel to energy. Over time as the economies of scale kick in, we will see even more benefits as cost goes down and efficiencies go up. I still prefer an ICE for dynamics and sound, an EV has a long way to go before they can replicate that experience

Ah, that explains how this design happened. BAD smoking experience...
he barely even inhaled! I wish we could say that was to blame but it more sounds like the fever dreams of someone who is used to everyone around them saying 'yes' to everything and finally doesnt have anyone around to be the voice of reason. Tesla would do good to move him behind the scenes and reign him in so the conversation can be about the cars and not the crazy CEO

Where are you getting this information? I'm not an expert so I won't cite anything as fact, but there are multiple studies from independent authorities that do not support your statement. As I understand it, manufacturing processes have reached efficiencies, especially in the US, to the point where CO2 emission and waste produced during EV manufacturing is comparable to what's produced for ICE car manufacturing. Factoring in that EVs don't produce tailpipe emissions as opposed to an ICE car that is spewing emissions during its lifetime, the case seems to be pretty strong that EVs are better for the environment. Maybe 10 years ago this was less true when manufacturing processes were still nascent, but I think it's gotten a lot better now and continues to improve as the technology matures. As far as disposal goes, ICE cars aren't exactly free of hazardous substances so the argument can be made that disposal of ICE cars pose much of the same environmental risks as EVs. In terms of the battery, the ideal is to repurpose or recycle them at end of life. Hopefully, that will be the case, but again, this is pretty new tech we're talking about so development still needs to happen in this area. But that doesn't mean EV tech is a failure.

EV to me is boring like ive said before ICE engines are like a work of art speccially big power ICE engines that shakes your house everytime you start it up, playing in high rpms and listening to that engine scream and lighting up your tires doing burn outs , how about that sweet smell of 100 oct...... :headbang:
