  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

In the market for all season tires... Help with a few options

The current Primacy set is on their last leg and quite noisy IMO. Discount Tire said they'll have 10-15% off this Black Fri so I'm ready to pick up some new rubbers.

Here's what I have that are reasonable in price/tread wear. All have decent reviews but would like some input if any of these have been too noisy/harsh.

Pirelli P zero+ ($170) 50k
Pirelli Strada ($167) 70k
Pirelli P7 ($201) 70k
Yokohama YK740 GTX ($180) 60k
Continental Control Contact ($155) 50k
Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 ($164) 50K

I just replaced a set of Pirelli P-Zeros which were close to worn out after about 40,000 km or about 25,000 miles which was as much as I had gotten from the Michelins they replaced. The Pirellis were great when new, very quiet and comfortable. After I while they developed vibration issues which were not completely remedied by repeated balancings and the the replacement of one which could not be balanced. I just put on a set of Goodyear Exhilarate which is now the highest rated ultra-performance all-season tire according to very recent testing by Consumer Reports. I literally have driven on them only once on the highway where they felt perfectly smooth and secure, but perhaps a touch noisier than the Pirellis. I also had the sense that passing over cracks in the pavement was louder although there was no actual transmission of vibration into the car. In other words, you can hear but not feel the irregularities in the pavement. So far the absence of vibration of any kind makes me happy with the choice, but time will tell.

Only Pirelli P7 Cinturato All Season Plus. Thank me later ;-) Quiet, soft and comfy ride. No cupping, no noise aftert +10k miles on them and no uneven wear. I spent the weekend in snowy WI and had to go up a very steep and long driveway. It was unshoveled. My buddy tried first with his brand new Land Rover Discovery and didn't make it even half way through the driveway. I tried and was able to make it with no problem. (Very tall snow, I was pushing it with the bottom of the front bumper).

10k miles on Pirellis.

Rotated every 5k miles so they have been rotated twice already. Worth all the money.

Had DWS06. Great tire, great wet traction and great in the snow. Sidewalls are soft though, blew two of them. Heavy car with low profile tires aren't a good combo. Just got the Pilot Sport A/S3+ back in September. I'll see how these go. So far, they're good in the dry and rain. It rarely snows in Vancouver which is why I opted not to go for proper winter tires. I figure if I can't get out of the driveway, I'll just work from home.

I tried the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's and they were a total FAILURE on my 2015 5.0. After a few thousand miles they developed such a roaring tire noise that I hated to drive the car. At some speeds in the 60 to 75 mph range they had a resonance that was deafening. I stopped playing the radio.

Replaced them with Continental Extreme Contact DWS and it is like a completely different car. Handling is just as good but now you and the passenger do not have to shout at each other to be heard. Slight tire noise, but hardly noticeable.

Did you elect to have them roadforced?
