  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone tried the SLR power chip on their 4.6 Tau? Does it void the Warrenty if it is installed?

You need more power? I kinda feel like the V8 is overkill, but to each his own. As far as your warranty concerns, the simple answer is: Maybe. Say your subwoofer goes out or the rear window shade won't retract, then they can't claim that the chip had anything to do with those components, and you should be fine. Then let's say you're feeling zesty one day and decide to take your car to a drag strip or race a Porsche on your local freeway onramp and the car for what ever reason dies on you or the check engine light comes on... you call Hyundai roadside assistance and they tow you to the nearest dealer only to discover that you have a blown head gasket, they have cause to blame it on the aftermarket CPU and you're fck'd.

Guess I'm one who loves "more power" when it comes to cars. I don't think it's overkill considering the car is big and heavy. Put the Tau in an accord would be overkill.

The Brabus Merc is possibly overkill with over 800hp on a coupe, and the car can't even put the power to the road.

Is the M5 V10 overkill? I guess this is all subjective as any and every subject on a forum, but to each to own.:D

Some chips allow you to toggle back and forth between "power" and the normal factory mode. In those case you probably be OK, especially if the "power" mode can be hidden from factory diagnostic tools.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Ditto. DITTO! This car already has more power than I will ever use (and I'm no old fuddy-duddy) plus YES, it will void your warranty.

Yes, be sure to keep the chip on when you tow your car to the dealership ;)

Funny, this company can get 50HP and 50TQ out of ANY motor it seems....
F150 --- 50 HP
Honda Prelude ---- 50 HP....

no dyno runs posted....

My advice.... take the money would use to buy this, make a nice pile , and burn it.

It would be better spent....

It is easy "chip" and sqeeze lots of hp and torque out of a turbocharged engine. For the normal engine the gain will be minimal.

Can someone explain to me how it would be theoretically possible to add 50+ HP while improving 10-20% MPG and reducing emissions? ;)
EDIT: without dropping the car off of a cliff!

HA! Good one.

This product is a scam. Take a look here at a post in another forum that actually has pictures of one taken apart.

Almost all modern cars have a ton of sensors for various things. Based on what those sensors read, the ECU does its thing, and the car goes. If you splice a resistor inline to the sensor (all these chips are is a resistor) you can basically lie to the ECU about what that sensor reads. Tweak the right sensor (intake temp, for instance) and some cars will experience a noticeable change in how they drive. That difference may or may not seem like an increase in performance, but the engineers who designed the car in the first place are not idiots, and the ECU programming is there for a reason. I'm not going to pretend that there are never good reasons to second guess the factory settings - certainly people who are willing to maintain their cars with greater frequency, run more expensive fuel, replace key parts more often, etc. can realize real benefits from going this route, but the notion that a single resistor can do everything that these guys claim is beyond ludicrous. It is, in fact, a scam.

I (still) don't have my Genny yet, but I've been following the car for a while now, and can confidently say a couple of things on the topic of extracting more HP from it (the sedan, that is): First, at this time, the sedan is probably not a good platform for the casual tuning enthusiast. There simply isn't a well developed aftermarket of genuine performance parts out there. Second, the first thing to address if someone was still dead set on getting a lot more go out of the car would probably be the transmission and ESC settings. For reasons only fully known to Hyundai (*cough* 10 year warranty *cough*) they really restrict the crap out of the launch performance of the car.

Mostly, and I hope I'm not moving too far afield for the thread, but I think that Hyundai is trying to micromanage the aftermarket response to their vehicles a little too much. They clearly wanted the coupe to be the big aftermarket car, and they wanted the sedan to be embraced "as is". Well, the coupe aftermarket has probably taken off a little more slowly than they wanted it to, and (much to their irritation no doubt) the sedan enthusiasts have been looking for mods. The fact that Dynan or AC Schnitzer overcharge BMW enthusiasts for aftermarket performance parts has not in any way diminished BMW's image, and Hyundai shouldn't be worried that a healthy performance aftermarket for the Genesis sedan would somehow prevent them from being taken seriously as a (near) luxury car maker.

All great points and I'm glad to learn it is just a scam! But POWER you can never get enough power then again I fell for a 95 Viper a few years ago so I'm not the one to be satisified with power! :)

Also, To all Where to you buy the Genesis wing emblems! I love that look!

Thanks to all,
