  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Remote App System Is Down

Mine has been working the whole time...although slower than usual. Apple User

I think it's ridiculous all these posts about a crappy system that someone thought was a good idea for a car to be started by a cell phone. if everybody complaining about it would call the right people they would realize that their system sucks and they'd go back to a key fob! I just bought a Genesis g70 3 weeks ago, love the car, but the dealer assured me that the remote start worked very well. It was a must that my wife had remote start. This thing is utter garbage! Why in the hell would they go from a key fob to something that takes 45 seconds to a minute and may still not work! Dumbest thing is ever seen. It's a car, not a TV or any of the other stupid crap that these cell phones are taking over these days 😠. Just saying....

So it sounds like you are sort of on the fence about it. 😊

Our car is parked 75 ft from our house in a insulated metal shop. My wife used to start her old car from the house, now she has to walk out there in the snow to start the damn thing because the phone will not work. the dealer that talked it up so much before we wrote the check will not return my phone calls anymore about the matter.

I think it's a sign that I'm getting old. The cell phones and all the technology is getting stupid anymore. maybe I should have spent my $45,000 for a plane ticket to Alaska and got away from everybody. 😫

Is is a cell phone signal problem or an app problem? One thing that helps a lot if to add a widget to the screen so you don't have to wait for the app to load. Makes it a much better experience.

If you have a cell reception problem with the metal garage, no simple solution. You'd probably have to use a repeater antenna. If you have a specific question, perhaps someone here can help.

You basically have a great Faraday cage there. Electromagnetic radiation is kept out. I’m a little surprise your fob worked. Do you leave the shop door open or are you starting the car and letting it run in the closed shop?

What sort of error message are you getting when it doesn’t work from the phone and is it an iPhone or Android? Maybe we can come up with a solution for you.

We both have Android phones, and the garage doors are down because it's winter. And no we do not have very good cell phone service in our town. The key fob worked fine from the kitchen to start the old car. The car dealer assured us that the phone works as well as a key fob which was a complete and total lie to my face. Just the other day we were at the grocery store and as we left the checkout aisle I got my phone out and tried to start it before we got to the car and failed. All my phone says is request sent, but the car never starts. And if the doors are unlocked and you send the request to start the car, it will tell you the doors are unlocked so then you send a request to lock the doors and it tells you it cannot do it because you've done told it to start and that takes several minutes to clear out... It's just plain and simple stupid....

I'm just venting, kind of regretting buying a foreign car.. I think all the new cars are going to be the same.

It would be nice if it locked the doors for you like some aftermarket remotes do. I've run into that a few times because the only time I lock the doors is when I will want to remote start it.

As I mentioned before, you can add a widget for the start. Hold your finger on the phone screen and it brings up a new screen. Tap Widgets. Go the the Genesis logo and tap that. You have a choice so chose the one for Remote Start. Add that to the home screen. When you need it, all you do is put your pin and done.

As for your recent misses, the system was down for a couple of days and is OK now.

I understand your frustration, but remote start aside, you bought a nice car with a lot of good features. Try to get past your initial negative problems you you will find lots of goodies to enjoy. There is a recent thread here with some of the tips and tricks others have found and enjoyed so take a look for it.

I had my wife put the widget on her home screen and that helped a bit. This morning though it said the server was having problems so there was still no start. Guess I'll wait for someone to make an aftermarket remote start and buy one. I don't think a repeater will work for us because there is no signal in our small town. Don't think a repeater would create signal.

Have you tried disregarding the server problem message and just log in again. That works every time on the Apple app.

Again, it's a pain to go through all that for remote start. She'll just have to walk out there and start it. A key fob was just so much better. On our way down to buy the car she said the deal was off if it didn't have remote start. The one thing she insisted on her car. I fell for the dealers line of crap and talked her into it and now have to hear about it every morning and night that it is slow and don't work. Maybe this spring when it warms up she will forget about it. Lol.. Think I should have kept her 07 Monte Carlo SS..

To be honest, you r issue is really a signal issue and not the car's fault. You can say that relying on the cell phone for this feature is not a good idea but everyone is connected these days and relies on their phones. From a marketing perspective it makes sense. And truthfully in most areas the remote start works just fine. While I understand your frustration, it really is s poor signal situation and not a system issue. Do you cell phones work well in the metal garage?

No. We barely have phone service in our driveway. Verizon doesn't think a small farming community needs a phone tower. Been this way for 20 years. I just got off the phone with a Genesis customer service representative and it sounds like we will just have to deal with it. It's not the end of the world just a little disappointing...

Not that it helps you much but in Houston it only take about 30 seconds to have the car start. I too have horrible cell service in my apt and garage and it still works ok.

On an android I just push the start button - no need for the pin with the finger print setting on. Whole operation usually takes me 35 seconds.

Now, if you have 0 cell in the garage nothing can help that - I'm surprised the old fob worked through a metal building.

Exactly my thoughts!
