  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Equus (2011-2016)
I just bought a 2014 equus sight unseen across the country, I just received the car tonight and I have a few questions because it didn't come with an owner's manual, first question is the left rear sunshade rolls down hides away and then comes right back up on its own. The second is when I push the ride height button the car doesn't go up and the light doesn't light up, but it does read ride height normal on the main display screen. And the third issue is the front of it sits really low I turned the wheel to the left and it seemed to pump up, when I put the wheel back to straight it lowered back down again, I prefer not to bring it to a dealer and get charged a ton of money after just buying the car, the dealership doesn't seem to be a ton of help so any help you guys can give me would be great

Thank you for that. Hopefully I can figure out the side window shade issue (that the dealership said they fixed) but it looks like I'm going to be out on the front suspension. I bought an extended warranty. But I imagine they won't cover it since I just bought the car

Congrats Superjeep. What is covered on your extended warranty depends on the "fine print". Best of Luck!!!

Many after market extended warranty will not cover any suspension components since it is considered a wear and tear item

I ended up taking the car back to the dealership. The "perfect car" I was sold needed just shy of $10k to be road Worthy. Have since picked up a 16 ultimate just off lease that's beautiful

Yikes...10K in repairs would be most of the value of the car at this point..depending on the mileage

Sounds like you dodged a bullet

Note to self, NEVER buy a car sight unseen, let alone one that is located in another state. Not a good idea.

I have actually done it a few times....from dealerships...and its been fine
Dont think I would do it from an individual though

Sounds like you bought it from a non-car branded dealer. Otherwise they would be on the hook for all issues.

I still would never buy a car of this caliber via pix only. Anyone can put lipstick on a pig to make if "look" fantastic.

Eight hours isn't too far to drive to go have it inspected IMO.

Well...not sure what you mean by a "car of this caliber"

But he was buying a nearly 6 year old Equus...not a Mercedes S63

So..my expectation would be that he would be a bit more forgiving with buying a 6 year old Equus

That's being said..I have a bought several "cars of this caliber" online sight unseen and they have met expectations for the most part
A couple of times I thought the tires might have had a bit more tread...but for what I was buying I was fine

Well a 3 year old car hahah. I think he meant like with all the electronics and whatnot

They were both "branded" dealers. Unfortunately one just tried pulling one over on me and got caught

Thought you said you bought a '14 model year in 2019?

I bought an '11 when it was 3 years old..several years ago
I assure you if I had been spending 3X the amount of money I would have had some different expectations

Oh yeah, the first one was a 14, second one is a 16. Misunderstood

Warren/Alfer...I would agree 100% with both your statements and would have bet ALOT of my money I would NEVER by a car sight unseen let alone from another state and a private owner to boot..HOWEVER...I had been looking for 6 months for the right 15 or preferred 16 ULTIMATE Casablanca white or Montecito blue genesis with low miles. Could not find anything here in Michigan and expanded my search to Ohio..still no luck..then one day in sept...carguru's and ebay had the same listing from an individual in Fla for a 16 Casablanca white Ultimate with 13K miles...started the negotiation process and low and behold we came to terms. Had the car shipped to Michigan and it was everything the prior owner said it was...am pleased beyond words. Did I get lucky?? maybe....would I do it again never seeing or driving a car...not sure I would press my luck...;)...John

Congrats on your new Equus!
