  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This guy seems to be in the aftermarket industry and has obtained a US V8 Gen. He also says the rims are stock, but they are not available on Hyundai's website.

Has anyone seen those rims at the dealers?

That's interesting. I wonder how he obtained a V8 already.. I agree with Hobbes (welcome, by the way!). I'm not crazy about the wheels. They look kinda cheap..

That is definitely pre-production. The dealership I bought from in Sacramento, CA had the same exact rims on their demo pre-production V8 Genesis. Same color too.

Thank god those rims didn't make the cut. The finish was horrible on them.....very dull with no shine/sparkle.

Just curious, if you don't mind sharing - what kind of deal were you able to work out on your Genesis? I'm also in the Sacramento area, but I was a bit discouraged by the $4,000 markup at Folsom Hyundai (which is closing - serves 'em right).

I got mine for $500 under MSRP at Roseville Hyundai. Keep in mind that my Genesis is a non-Tech. Last time I stopped by there (approx. 3 weeks ago), they had a couple Tech models w/ a $3000(ish) markup above MSRP! :( Still no markup on lesser models though. I guess they feel the Tech Package is in such limited supply right now that people will pay through the nose for it. Still, I was disappointed to see they were playing the markup game.

....back on topic. :)

I was hoping they weren't because they are UuUUUuuuuUUgglllyyy! Anyway, I would be more concerned about the car being of silver color and the strut panels, under the hood, being white :p

Those rims are the ones on the v8 at the test drives (DriveGenesis). They said that is not the rims the v8's will have though.

Correct. The production V8 rims, for those who haven't seen them look like this:

Notice the V8-exclusive 4-piston brake calipers. :)

Update from my salesguy: They have the VINs for their first two V8s. Expecting them onsite by end of Aug or 1st week of Sept. One Blk/Blk the other Sterling Blue.

Sooner then I thought, now to see how dealers will try to markup these V8 :(.

Hopefully any of you guys that gets your hands on any new tid-bits of information as to the current status and where abouts of the V-8 Genesis would be great!

I still think its weird that you can track a little package around the world but when you even talk to Hyundai Relations or Hyundai Regional Headquarters its a complete mystery of the current status of the V-8's.

Is it just me or shouldn't there be a system in place that should be able to tell the dealers as to the build status, export status, shipped status, port status, delievery to destination status and so on by the VIN numbers?

I guess I just am missing something when you can track a wrist watch around the world and as far as a $33,000- $42,000 car..............now that is a mystery! At least as for the big wheels of Hyundai it is. I don't blame the dealers at all. They loved my suggestion so that they could keep their potential customers informed of all inventory movements.

Oh well nothing like dreaming a bit. I have been frustrated on all the different stories that we have heard on the V-8 for many months now!

At any rate other manufacturers are the same way. The poor guys waiting for the new Camaro's have had it worse than we have.

I just returned from the Genesis drive event in Houston. They had about 5 V8s there, and each one was sporting the pre-production rims. When asked when the V8s would be available, they said October.

By the way, the differences in the grades of leather were noticeable. Very much so.

I'll be interested in seeing the Genesis wheel caps on the Cabernet-colored car. I have the same color, but wondered about how the black centerpiece looks on the silver wheel w/cabernet colored paint. Add a new pic when you get it...if you would be so kind. I saw pics of them on the black car, and they look great--just not sure about red.

Thanks in advance!

Dan

That's what I've been hearing.. Good news.. Not that the regular better is bad at all! I actually like it very much.. I'm anxious to see what this higher quality leather is like.. I hear it's similar to suede...
