  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Mapnsoft v14 on the Horizon

If I can get both, via download, why wouldn't I ?
Convenience. I'm within the 3 years so they give me an SD card to plug in. No added cost.

Nice to have a choice though

Help a nOoB out here guyz...

I went to the site and entered my info and VIN, yet they want to charge me $25 + shipping.

I thought map updates were free for three years.

I just purchased(new car) my 2019 two weeks ago.

Did you see the notice that the map is not available until April 27? You cannot order yet. Go back on the 27th and there should be some different options and you should be able co check a box to "Bill to Genesis" That is the way it has been for the past 3 years.

Thanks EdP,

I just searched the "faqs" on the site, to me it appears you have to pay for the SD card, but the download(in July) is free.
Am I wrong?

How do I get a free map update?
For all eligible vehicles, visit the Global MapCare site below to download your free map. Note: Not all models can be downloaded.
UPDATE: April 16, 2020 - the download websites below are currently unavailable. Scheduled release is JULY 2020.

In the past I never paid for the SD card. If you had an older model that did not qualify for free maps you could download at one price or pay the extra $25 for the card. I'm guessing on the 27th it will be more clear and ready to go.

I am trying to recall when my car was new. After registering with their site there was a delay of some time, several weeks for the confirmation between Genesis and mapnsoft before ordering free update was available. I sent them a message about confirming my VIN was in their system and they said it was and they were waiting for update from Genesis (or something). Some others here may help to confirm this. It seems it should take but a short time but others also reported weeks, maybe a month before availability of free update. No reason to be in a hurry. Myself, I will wait until others have used the new data and report on success and bugs, if any.

I bought my car in November and when 13.5 came out, I downloaded the update from their website and overwrote my SD card with the new version. Plugged it in, and it worked.

Sure that might be risky if it failed, but I could always buy a new card at Best Buy and try again.

I updated 13.5 on both my Santa Fe and G70 at the same time. Since the update was included with the G70 I had the whole kit sent and it installed correctly. The Santa Fe I had to pay for so I decided to save some money and use the old card and download the update for it. That didn’t go so well it failed twice. I called support they helped me correct the problem easily by editing a corrupted file on the SD card in my computer. It was the file with the VIN on it. All went well after that. Just as a note I have found some errors on 13.5 in my G70 and had to resort to Google maps.

Do the updates generally take an hour like the website indicates?

I checked previous threads about this and my memory of mine and about 30 minutes seems right. An hour at the outside estimate gives them some freedom to incorporate other functions and changes. I would expect less than 60 minutes.

It was about an hour in my case, including removal of the card from the car, downloading the update from their website, reading all the instructions before doing anything, writing the firmware to the card, reading the instructions again, and putting the card back in the car.

The one-step I skipped was formatting the card before writing the new firmware, but it still worked anyway. I was fortunate to have an SD card slot in my laptop.

My G80 was about a half hour. You can drive the car while it does its thing. Plug the card in and go, but you will not have radio, navigation, cameras. As you are driving along and music starts to play it is done.

Good to know, was just gonna leave car running in garage.

I was able to update fine without starting the engine. I made sure all unnecessary accessories (fan, radio, lights etc.) were turned off in order to minimize drain on the battery while performing the update.

Is it free upgrade too for all Hyundai/Genesis newly purchased cars?
I really want to see real time Doppler weather radar integrated into the nav maps. Soon?

Genesis for 3 years
Nothing for Hyundai that I've seen

What?? I now realized i still on my original version since i got the car Jan last year. Here is where I am.
So, if i want to download any other version after this one where i can found it because the Mapnsoft website won't give you option for any previous to 14. I'm missing 12, and 13 obviously and the one mentioned for Global i can't find it.

My comment earlier about 30 minutes update time was when I had the sd card sent from mapnsoft. Remove earlier card, install new card and follow instructions. Downloading to an existing card, as Tinsley said, adds a step and introduces another device (computer). Thus a longer time to complete. Still, 30-60 minutes seems to cover it.
