What is most interesting about the Motor Trend 2009 Car Summary article is that very few cars get a rating of more than 3.5 stars and almost all of those have MSRP's over $100,000. The Genesis sits proudly with the 3.5 at its price point.

The Genesis certainly has it's critics - but it's become more obvious by the day that this Hyundai really is a game changer. This Hyundai is truly affordable luxury.

There will always be haters.

I thought I would never see this but I see a bunch of Lexus owners who hate on the new Genesis. Why? Do they feel threatened? Insecurity? I dont know but all I know for sure is that there is a bunch of hating on the Genesis. Not too long ago there were BMW/MB guys hating on the lexus and history is repeating itself. If and when there are chinese cars lets not hate on them as a forum.

It is human nature - nobody likes to pay "too much".

If I just paid $50K for a 350 GS or almost $60K for a 460 GS I wouldn't like it if you came along with rave reviews in hand and proudly displayed your very attractive $38K-$42K loaded Genesis.

Jealous and envious about a few things - certainly. Maybe not entirely - but a little. None of the forums I operate will "hate" other makes or models. I'm an automobile enthusiast and I believe it's unhealthy for a make or model specific forum, or it's members, to talk down about other makes, models or their owners...

Amen! I'm all for frank, honest discussion, but it's important to remain civil and refrain from gross generalizations and flame-baiting.

I'm kind of wishing I never joined the discussion on that other forum. The blind hatred of Hyundai by certain people boggles my mind.

Well how about another post that actually compares features of a GS to a Gen? There has to be more Lexus drivers out there making rational comparisons...

^ Not me... I enjoy(ed) it. Even though there are a few hard headed people AHeM! I wont mention names but, lets try not to do the same if China ever makes cars.

I don't understand why they compared a Lexus GS 350 to the Genesis V8, it just doesn't make sense. They mention they chose, at least partly, on price, but that seems to be a poor basis for comparison. Would it really have been that difficult to compare the V6 to a 350 and a V8 to a 460?

If pricing is the logic, what's their next comparison, the V8 to a C-series Mercedes? They really should line the comparisons up by size, features/category, engine choices (where applicable) and if the prices don't match up, they don't.

Comparing new cars based on comparable price vs. similar features is another sign that many people don't know how to react to (or categorize) the Genesis. It really throws them for a loop.

i'm with you cabz. two cars are just in different leagues. V8 is a heavier-larger-luxurious sedan while G350 is a smaller-sportier-mid sized sedan. and this difference makes G350 more agile and fuel-efficient than the Gen V8. that's it.
