Genesis G80 Ultimate
My search for my next car has now come to an end. I started this search from a recommendation from my mechanic that I need to seriously look into the "Genesis G80" for my Infiniti replacement. So I started looking into the 2017 models, Then I notice the 2018 and 2019s added the 3.8 Ultimate option. I finally test drove a 2019 3.3T Sport (real nice). So I finally settle in my mind for a 2018 or 2019 3.8 Ultimate. Found a couple with nice prices but dealers were trying to sock it to me on taxes and fees.

Mid May I found a 2018 G80 5.0 Ultimate (very low miles), the price was very nice and then over memorial day weekend the price became "very very nice". So I pulled the trigger and today the car was delivered to me. Casablanca White with grey interior, this thing is a beauty. Quick question, does these cars come with a owner manual or are they downloadable? I have the quick guide and that will do for now. I also have to get with the dealership and get my floor mats shipped to me.

I will have it detail on friday and get pics up at that time. My wife drove it and said she thought it felt better than the 3.3 T Sport, I have to agree with her. Very smooth ride. I need to look into the 10yr/100,000 warranty addition. I believe we are going to be happy with this purchase. Thanks for all the help guys, I learn so much about this brand in the short time I found this site.
Thanks
D

The dealer may be jacking up the fees but the taxes due are set by the state - not the dealer.

Congrats I am thinking of detailing before putting picture up as well.
It rained when I got mine delivered so its dirty.
Are you planning putting wax or ceramic coat?

Thanks guys, DrKK, thanks for the link, I will check that out. I will do a check in the forum, but I will ask here anyway. As far as the warranty, can I go to any Hyundai/Genesis dealer an purchase the 10yr/100K warranty?

utgen, the car was tagged with bugs during the transport from florida, my detail guy is the best in the city, so he and I are discussing what's going to be done. I really think the car was only washed by the dealer while it sat on the lot.

n8800m, you are right about the taxes, but I had one dealer whose taxes were 3 times what the others charge. He said they charge my state tax rate (alabama - roll tide). So I sent him the Alabama Dept of Revenue tax rates for auto. That rate nailed all of the other offers to the penny as far as taxes concern. So I just wanted to understand why it was so high.

daviderle, you are correct, no pics, or it didn't happen:) the rain is out of here today and Friday it will be clean and then, there will be pics.(y)

Congratulations on the 5.0 Ultimate. You will love the car .

Almost certain you bought the 2018 5.0 Ultimate I've been eyeballing (but wasn't ready to buy) in Mobile Alabama with 60k miles that just had a price drop.

Congrats and Enjoy!

Trousers, I picked this one up near Tampa Florida, you can find some nice ones in the Florida area when you are ready to pull that trigger. Just got back in from taking the wife to dinner, yes this car is "smooth".

Ok, you must have got that nice one in Wesley Chapel then!

Trying to save up for the car but this year is throwing a kink in things. I should be ready in a year or so.

I think the 5.0 Ultimate is going to be the one for me. Really disappointed with the trim problems on the G80 Sport.

Congrats again.

You will not be disappointed with a 5.0. Super smooth and excellent acceleration without even working the engine hard. Good luck with your search.

Trousers, Bingo, that's the one. Very nice car and they were pretty cool to work with. Kraig you are right, this car is so smooth, it just feels so natural in it's moving. I'm about to order some mud guards for it today. Can't wait, detail day is tomorrow and then pics.

Yeah I just did mud guards on mine this winter. It's a nice easy improvement. Looks good as well and they are easy to do. Congrats on the new ride. I wish the newer 5.0s had the ECS .

Quick question to the OP about your out-state-buying experience...

Did you buy the car completely online/over the phone and have it delivered to you sight unseen (besides the photos)? Or did you personally see the car and then have it shipped to you? Or did your use a pre-purchase inspection service to inspect the car before you closed the deal and then have it shipped?

I am very curious about how this worked for you and any other forum member who bought a car far from home.

I talked with dealer on the phone a couple times then flew out there to physically look at the car. I cant bring myself to spend that kind of $ on something and not see, drive and inspect for myself. Then drive back 650 miles and got acquainted with the car.🙂

Hi Guys,

here's a quick pic of the car, daviderle, here it is:), I asked the detailer not to shine the tires, and his guys did. When my wife drove it home and got out, she saw the splatter and told me to order the mud guards (i did this morning). My detailer was fired, not because of that, but they missed alot of things. That's another rant, breathe ... ok. They call my interior "ivory" but it looks grey to me ?? but it is a cool look. I have to break the lexol out tomorrow, yeah they missed some spots on the inside .... breathe.

my buying experience went like this, I only drove a 2019 Sport 3.3T (30 min. test drive) and a brief 5 min drive in 2017 G80 3.8. So I know the G80 3.8 Ultimate was my goal. Hard car to find right now and i then i ran across this 5.0. I saw the number drop once and by memorial day it drop again. I had to move on it. I got major pictures, videos and we did a walk around video. Without going in details, I'm very confident of the videos and pictures where the real deal. Now transport was different, they wouldn't offer me transport (another long story) I found a company and turned out they were brokers (sub the job out) they finally found a driver who was going to Dothan (2 hrs away from me) and he brought it up. Hope that answer your question to some degree. I really like this car, it's very nice.

Good looking ride! Good for you.

She looks beautiful, nicely done, may you enjoy many years of happy and trouble free service.

Please continue to explore the idea of getting the extended warranty from a reputable source so that can be honored at any Genesis/Hyundai dealer.

They look good in white. I totally agree about that warranty as well. Get yourself a good one if you plan on keeping her.
