  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,
I am a new user here. Just registered today. So i am in the market for a G70 3.3t AWD. i found a new 2019 G70 3.3t advanced awd which was listed at 39k + TTL. I got it down to $36k+TTL, so it would be around $39K OTD. Is this a good deal? I test drove this specific car and it was really nice! There is another 2019 G70 3.3T Prestige which is listed around $43K. I haven't negotiated that specific one yet, but what do you guys think would be a good price for both these cars? What should i try to aim at? Thanks for all the help in advance. I'm a newbie and any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Both of these cars are the 2019 Red ones. Not sure what the deal is with those.

Where abouts are you located? I'm in the Northeast and just last week bought one of the 2019 reds, 47 miles on the odo, 3.3T AWD Sport for 36,900. And there were a couple available. Your offer doesn't seem that unreasonable

Southern California, not as many good deals here, hardly any used g70s as well. Also the red one from the dealer was considered "new" stock. Some of the best deals are for the red ones selling as used but no miles.

Havana Red 3.3 Advance w/Elite CPO 14k miles, 31.6 k. out the door, 30.2k before taxes. Auburn, AL dealer.

$352/month 36 month lease with 12k miles/year + tax, title, license fees for a g70 2.0T Elite AWD. Thoughts?

Folks, I was looking at used car price trends from Cargurus's data. Interestingly. used sedans have gone up in pricing +10.2 % in the past 90 days, with the EXCEPTION of about 4 brands, with Genesis used vehicle pricing leading that pack, with pricing DOWN almost 14% over the past 90 days. Along with Fiat and Alfa Romeo. So that is a 24% diff between the average used sedan and a Genesis, eg, we are likely to get, on average, 24% less for a resale or a trade-in. Also, 2020 G70 sales are down ~ 50% from last year.

Looks like brand perception has taken a GD nosedive. That's great. Also, word is probably out among likely buyers about all of the freaking NVH issues, and all of the dealer issues. Genesis, you screwed the pooch up big time with your QC issues, and now we all suffer. Thanks so much.

That is strange unless there is a lot of used Genesis vehicles in the open market driving pricing down. As used pricing falls, dealers will have to discount further to keep new car sales moving. Hyundai dealers and all their bickering and law suits really screwed the pooch on this one. Not sure Genesis will ever get like an Infiniti or Lexus with dealerships. I keep my cars for better than 5 years so don’t worry that much about valuation right now. Have not had to have any warranty work done so no experience with my Hyundai service yet?

This kinda sounds familiar..

In 2017 I leased a Focus ST. the RS's were all the rage at the time. My residual value at signing was garbage - like 48% or something... At lease end I bought out the rest of the car for $9.5k remaining.. then sold it to for $17k a month ago and could have got more if I tried. The point being the estimated value was way off straight from the dealer.
I don't think there is a "brand perception" yet since there's barely a brand to percept yet..

Yeah...the dealers couldn't come down from $48K (sticker) to $30.5K that I paid for one of these red babes. The closest they could come, with scornful faces, was $42K. Genesis flooded the market with brand new used havana red cars, it would seem:

Why Are There So Many Used Red Genesis G70s With Under 100 Miles?

I might just wait until end of September to see any new deals.

Had some time to look over this claim. You read the chart wrong because Genesis prices increased 4.19% over the past 90 days. Here's the chart:

Used Car Price Trends - CarGurus

Where the price did go down was YoY (Year over year- compared to 2019), which makes sense because 2020 is 3 years from 2017, which is when Genesis officially launched its own branded models. 3 years is the typical time of a lease. That means that there's now a flood of Genesis-branded products that weren't there before, because the ones that were in 2019 and prior were likely early lease returns. If you really want a true view of price differences YoY, you would have to add the 15-16 Hyundai Genesis in there, which isn't counted by Cargurus as a Genesis.

Also, because Genesis prices are counted from 2017 onward, you would expect them to go down each year because there would be more older and cheaper cars being counted each year. Other brands have been around long enough where YoY makes little difference.

As I side note, I work with a lot of numbers in my job, and you can't "add percentages". According to the chart, the percentage is relative to each brand.

I will be interested in hearing @viciousCircle response. I’m starting to see a pattern of misinformation. No purposeful of course but maybe not fully thought through.

Well, I liked the better take on the Genesis numbers from CarGuru, I have to say the real education for me is that we should be investing heavily in Pontiac models. The trends speak for themselves!

Wound up going with this over on of the red specials. Having 2nd thoughts but we do like the Mallorca blue more than the red.

I was able to find a NEW 2019 G70 AWD 3.3L Design edition for $42,000. The MSRP is $50,750. Would it be possible to haggle the price down, it appears the car has been sitting there for a while? Kelley Blue Book shows a fair value of almost $46k. Is there no incentives for 2019 models? Someone please advice. Thank you.

Yes, I did read that part wrong. You can stop though, with all the angry, condescending remarks though, I read the GD chart wrong for those data.
