  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My neighbour here in Canada who purchased a 2015 Tech model (after seeing mine) just replaced a headlight bulb which had gone dim. The total cost of the replacement by the dealer was about $400 with about $115 representing the cost of the bulb and the balance for labour as he was told the front bumper had to be removed to access the bulb. His vehicle has about 22,000 km. on it and is 16 months old. Hyundai's warranty appears to exclude bulbs after 12 months. This seems an outrageous amount, particularly if we can expect bulb failures at such an early stage.

I did some on-line searching and found some posts that suggested bumper removal was not required, but those posts may have referred to Generation 1 models. Does anyone know for certain whether bumper removal is really required for such a pedestrian repair on our Generation 2 sedans? Has anyone else experienced this?

i have a gen 2 i replaced my bulbs i did not remove the bumper i was very careful taking out the one screw

I would appreciate it if you could describe the process you used and how long it took.

the manual actually has a very detailed how to, I'll see if I can find you the page. If you have changed HID bulbs, or really any bulbs, 30 min MAX for low beams

It doesn't look like 30 min job, unscrewing/screwing those couple screws on the u shape bulb holder are a PITA, in my G1 I had to take out the bumper. I don't know if can be doable on G2 so easily.

take the cap off u can see there is a metal band that goes across the bulb all u have to do is remove one screw but make sure u DONT drop it in the headlight once u have the screw off just bend the metal ban over turn the bulb and remove it the wire is long so there is no problem with that on the bulb there is a metal ring around the bulb just put that on the new bulb put the bulb in bend the metal band back now tape the screw to a screwdriver so u don't drop it in the headlight once u start the screw in take the screwdriver off the screw remove the tape and tighten the screw now the most important part is NOT to drop the screw so be very very careful

Thanks for the info jimmy, the kit is to bend the u shape holder and of course not to drop the screw.

yes just unscrew it a little the use your fingers to take it out

Halogen headlight bulbs carry a 3 year free replacement warranty.

A strict reading of the Canadian warranty excludes light bulbs. I'm happy to say, however, that Hyundai Canada stepped up in the case I cited and satisfied my neighbour regarding his headlight bulb replacement concerns.

So that housing has a side bulb , both come out together when you remove the two screws?

Did you have to remove the wheel well cover to get to the back of the cap? I’m to swap the OEM bulbs with sole OSRAM D1S CBBs

Thank you! I had used the search function, but didn’t return anything. You saved me $180 bucks and only took me about 45 minutes. Taking out the screw without dropping it was the most suspenseful part. I dropped in some OSRAM CBBs D1S

I stuff a clean microfiber cloth beneath the bulb so that if the screw drops, it can’t go into the housing.

Glad I could help! I stuffed a clean microfiber cloth beneath the bracket and bulb, so if I dropped the screw, it wouldn’t enter the housing.

Same here. I did the LED turn signal retrofit and kocky’s amp mod over the weekend. I have the 14 speaker Lexicon system and adding that amp to the sub made a WORLD of difference. The last thing on my list is the illuminated doors sills.
