  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spyshots of 2021 G70 facelift

I still can't get a sense of it from pictures....

The original leaks made the front looked all bulging and bugged-eyed. The new official pics make the rear end look out of sorts (are the rear tail lights parallel or at an angle to each other!).

I have to see the thing in person.

Only thing I can tell is that the side vent isn't as offensive as I thought it might be from the older spy shots. I'm still lusting after the new Stinger right now (gotta see it in the flesh)....and I'll jump if the 2.5T doesn't come into the G70.

Edit: also glad it didn't get the horrible steering wheel from the GV80 or the vertical tail pipes of the GV70 🤮

Okay, I was hating the rear in the reveal shots, but that road picture is pretty dope.

Here are the official pics on the S.Korean website. Same pics...but not sure if higher res?

The front headlights are too round...or "bubbly". I also do not like that the rear light's lines do not seem parallel...they seem to merge as they flow towards the back.

Agreed on the front headlights. They seem more bulbous than the ones on the G80. I wish they had pictures in a darker paint color, so maybe the darkened headlights would seem smaller with less contrast to the paint.

Definitely the rear lights lines don't look parallel looking from the side of the car, they look odd to me.

Well...looks like we have the 2021 G70 in the USA and Canada now (sorry if old news). Same as 2020 it seems. Guess the face lift will be a 2022 model. Which...kind of sucks for me...as I wanted the FULL refresh after my lease is over in 2022.

Looking at some window stickers...looks like the package stacking has changed. Base is now called Standard...then you can add Prestige than Sport.

Example...

Another (yucky) front end pic of the refresh. Definitely not liking the roundness of everything. The grill is even rounded out...needs some sharp corners back.

Not a big fan.

@Beefer you keeping your G70?
I absolutely still love it. I want another...yes. BUT...if this 2021 refresh is my only option...I may pass on it. I need to see one in person.

Perhaps I would get into a GV70 Sport. I like Genesis. I have no issues. I find many advantages over the Germans.

BUT...another biggie for me is our world right now. Life is still on pause. I put about 20 miles on my car per week (if that). Do I really need an expensive luxury car just sitting in my garage?

I may buy some absolute POS beater to hold me over until a full refresh of the G70. We bought my daughter a 2016 Tucson which we love. Heck...between that and my wife's Q5...that may be plenty for a while.

Same here, I’ll wait for the GV70 to decide.

I think it looks like it’s squinting with sunglasses on. The grille has that little point at the bottom and reminds me of a dog nose. Happy with my 2020 though I am interested in whether they’ll change the v6.

That’s really great to hear you still love it. I like the G70 and that’s it’s very rare to see on the road but the dealer network is still not there yet. I want to see Genesis succeed but I feel like they are still struggling in that aspect. I just feel like they missed the marker on this refresh. It doesn’t excite me like how I was when I saw the G70 for the first time. Not only that but the rumours of it sticking with the 3.3TT kinda sucks. Feel like they didn’t do it to save money. 2.5T is fine and all but the looks don’t impress me. Also the interior just got a nip and tuck, nothing exciting on that front.
The GV70 I believe will outshine it. It’s basically a lifted hatch back. With that model getting the 3.5TT I believe it will sell like hot cakes especially priced right.
For me personally I’ve been looking at the new TLX A-Spec Sh-AWD I loved the way they executed it. I know I know it’s front wheel drive based or as some say wrong wheel drive but personally I like that type of set up.

Wonder if the GV70 shares its platform with the G70, or gets a shorter version of the new platform underpinning the G80.

Read a report claiming that the eGV70 is underpinned by the dedicated BEV platform, but wouldn't count on it without further confirmation.

Better front view

I drive the crap out of mine, because there's nothing else to do. 2022 is the refresh year. 3 years initial, then refresh for 2, then new model. That is the typical German luxury vehicle production schedule that everyone has copied. 2021 G70's are already out on the lots. You'll see this in August of 2021. Genesis put a lot of work into this redesign, I would not be surprised to see them go 3 years on this facelift, with extra goodies in the final year.

More gray pics. The more I see...the more I hate.

2021 RAM 1500 TRX looks like a ton of fun.

A license plate could be mounted a bit lower than shown, hiding the point. The new Genesis grills seem to be heading into Lexus territory (not in precise shape, but in ridiculousness), a definite minus for me.
