Can someone help me understand the wiper system on 2015 Genesis Sedan? I set the wiper to auto and increase level to high and the wipers don't move unless there is a subtantial amount of water on windshield for it to start moving and when they sweep the windshield it takes a while for the 2nd sweep. Is that normal?
From the manual:
AUTO : The rain sensor located on
the upper end of the windshield
glass senses the
amount of rainfall and controls
the wiping cycle for the
proper interval. The more it
rains, the faster the wiper
operates. When the rain
stops, the wiper stops.To
vary the speed setting, turn
the speed control knob (B).
Turning the knob changes the sensitivity so it goes faster or slower. I forget which direction, I think back is faster. Mine is near the center and works well for me.
If there is no rain, it will no move but once it started, the wiper will clear. In light mist, it may stop until there is more water. Adjust to get the sensitivity you want.
In light rain, I may get a wipe every 10 or 20 seconds but then a passing truck splashes and they speed up a few wipes to clear it. If the rain increases, the speed increases to maximum if needed.
Keep the windshield clear around the sensor. Experiment to get what works for you. In summer here you can go from sun to sprinkle to downpour to sun inside of a mile or two. I've not touched anything for probably a year. They just go on as needed. Freezing is not a concern,
All that said, mine work great, a few others here say they don't like the way it works so they are not all perfect.
