  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Cracked Dash

Forgot to mention it was around $100.

Got a good link?

Looks nice but what about airbag issue?

I have a 2010 gen. Dark blue exterior tan interior. The dash has so many cracks in it and I can now see the underlayment (foam?) Its insane. The car only has 86k miles on it. I use a sunshade all the time and even keep my front windows cracked slightly since the florida heat will melt anything.

I got this leather dashboard cover off ebay and am quite happy with it. They company was based in Korea.

what is the name of the store / product? I would like to look this up also. link doesn't go to ebay

There are breakaway points around the airbag on the dashboard; over time once it starts drying out the scored lines will break through. nature of the material over time.

Wouldn't a leather treatment help prevent that?....Since Genesis no longer supplies cars with leather dashes (Even the new G90), it's hard to say if this problem will increase or decrease in the future.
Since I'm retired, and my car is garage kept, I shouldn't have that problem (I hope)

Since you live in Chicago, not Florida, you are much less likely to experience this problem. I’ve seen cracked dashes and the material is very thin. It would also be a crime to call the material leather.

Not every Genesis came with a leather dash. I was looking at the window sticker of a 2018, and it didn't mention it. The G90 dropped it in 2021.
My 2013 had the Tech package, and it said leather dash and door panels, along with a higher grade seating surfaces.
Do you still have your window sticker?

The discussion relates to the top of the dash under the windshield. That the problem area, not the part facing the driver.

That's the part that should be leather on older Genesis.....Not the part facing the driver.

Huh?

The ‘12-‘14 Genesis Premium and Technology package models came with a leather facia on the dash. The base model was plastic wood.

Again, the subject here is the cracking dash top, NOT the dash face.

First off, I did try and search this topic and didn't find exactly the answers I was looking for thus why I'm posting.

I own a 09 4.6 White exterior Tan interior fully loaded with the tech package. I have owned it since new and never used armorall on the dash since I have heard/seen that over time it will/can cause it to crack. Just the other day I noticed there is a crack right above the passenger side air bag.

My question to all our members here is, has anyone else had this crack happen to their car in the same location?

My thought process here is this is a factory deigned weak spot on the dash should the airbag need to be deployed and with the heat from the Florida sun over the years it caused it to get weak and just crack right on that line.

thanks for the info/thoughts
Same exact spot on my 09 4.6

I have loved my 2011 Hyundai Genesis sedan from Day 1 - I lived in FL for 7 years and then moved to SC. Two cracks appeared in the dashboard on the passenger side last month. Has anyone found a solution?

Just Google for Genesis dashboard covers.

Here’s a good place to look too.
