  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Oil catch can installed.

Okay.. I see it now. I didn't realize the one on the left that goes to the valve cover : comes back up and is clamped to the rubber hose (oem ?) that wraps around.. Thanks.

Yeah the one coming out of the valve cover is a smaller diameter than the one in the intake. I reused the reducer that was there to make it fit. Need a barbed coupler to connect them together and 2 small clamps.

I figured that might be the reason for still using the other hose. I'm about to jump into working on it tonight so thanks for the heads up on the clamps and the fitting diameter difference. Couple more questions if you don't mind.. I think I've got the right hose I purchased a length of 3/8 or 10 mm braided hose that looks just like yours so I think I got that right, I'll swing by the parts store and grab some more clamps just in case. Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like you altered the intake tube to the filter housing. I'm curious could you tell me more the reason for this ? I may want to follow suit.. I know a lot of guys add a aftermarket air intake like the weapon R or fabricate their own but I don't care for doing that because of hot air and or issues with air fuel mixture tune problems.. so I've always just used the OEM air box with a K&N drop-in filter. But if there's some advantage to the tubing you used to get there I'm all ears..

Yeah I removed all the extra filter components and the accordion tubing that really just sound deadons the intake and ran an 90° elbow off the throttle body and a straight aluminum pipe (plastidipped black) directly to the airbox. My butt dyno says it helps a little.

Butt Dyno.. literally LOL. Dude, your sense of humor is A+.

Although I'll likely go your route to avoid either to much air throwing of my car's air fuel ratio and requiring a tune or winding up with heat soak issue, I got to admit that when I saw this video
I have to give the guy credit for circumventing the Weapon R price gouge and creating a cool set up. If I had less respect for our car's oem air filter box (it even has a flap thingamabob) ..I'd probably already be working on building one for mine. Hell I'm still tempted cause it looks cool and likely sounds cool....but I know my butt dyno might not like it.

What about the hose from the other valve cover that connects to the elbow on the tube to the airbox ? Does that need a catch can also ? I seem to remember seeing a car with 2 installed..
Only do the one. Seem to remember someone doing the 2 and creating a vacuum lock somehow. Maybe some with more experience can chime in, 99% of the ones I see are just one OCC.

You are correct.
DO NOT touch the hose on the other side.

Based on what I saw when I had the stock intake installed, I think you'll have clearance issues installing it. Maybe someone else tried it and can help.
i have stock intake and I also put the can where you did it was the only logical spot lol
I took off the piece of the intake which I believe is a intake sound reducer (piece that goes over the valve cover )and over the pvc valve if you left it on your right it would impede the return hose .
any way used a rubber cap and clamp for it
And yes the pvc hose goes from 3/8 to 1/2
So I use a 90 degree brass fitting reducer off the pvc valve worked out great hose runs along the intake mani right to the can

So I did wind up installing my catch can and after just two months of driving and 3000 miles I'm really glad I did based on the overflow it caught ! Hey I think I'd like to copy your intake tube I know you said elbows and a steel tube ?? Can you be a little more specific on where you got those parts ? I'd like to get replace the stock tube with sound deadening stuff but keep the air box like you did.

That would be nice, a little more that could go wrong . However the benefits would definitely out weight the problems direct injection pose.
Think about how much cleaner it would stay..

Ebay but you can buy them anywhere. Standard silicone elbows and reducers.

3.5"-4" 90° ELBOW INTAKE/TURBO PIPE BLACK SILICONE REDUCER HOSE + T-CLAMP 2PC

4" 102MM TURBO/INTAKE/INTERCOOLER PIPING SILICONE COUPLER HOSE+T-CLAMP BLACK

4" aluminum tubing - I plastidipped mine black

Ya you can find them a lot of places
He gonna need to find a elbow with a nipple
For that other vacuum line if you can’t find one can always use a straight coupler and aluminum 90 and drill in a nipple

I'm guessing it's 10... based on how I measured my stock setup and the elbow/coupler estimated lengths..

Sounds about right even if get a 12 “ you can always cut it and file the edges so no metal shaving go in the motor

10" but I think I had to cut it a little bit
