  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV80 Bugs & Other Issues

I find that you need sticky fingers to not slip on the much too recessed infotainment rotary control. Obviously I'll get used to it but what would it have hurt to have made it a 1/4 inch higher so you could actually grab it.
Are you able to use it with gloves at all?

You GV80 guys and new toys, lol. I can see it now, well officer, I was testing moving my car with no one behind the wheel driving while trying to listen to my USB music still plugged into my car via my phone, so sorry it ran into your squad car. I got all wrapped up in a good tune and the car was on its own for a moment. I wasn’t driving so you can’t give me the ticket...the car did it. Just messing with you guys. Have fun and let us know if you can send your GV80 down to 7-11 for a beer while you stay at home?
That's funny pulsar. I headed out to Best Buy today and when I got on to Route 1 I put cruise on at 70 (speed limit) and put my hands in my lap. almost no traffic. The car drove itself for about 2 miles before I got a beep.

If 7-11 is a straight line to the house and I call ahead, that might work. I'll hook a bag to the handle and get curbside service.

Not yet I'm a little nervous about that. That'll be a more gradual and cautious task. I ordered the key card (don't really need that either) also so the fun will continue. I think I just enjoy the programing process.
I already have the key card. I was able to program the digital key in my phone no problem but have not been able to program the little thin plastic key card.

Don't know if this is the right subject but I went to look and seat in two GV 80s, all sold and can't test drive. An advanced+ and a Prestige, both 3.5TT.
They both looks stunning outside and inside, the materials are top notch and the technology is impressive, particularly the graphics on the center display. However, they lack practicality. The 3rd row seats are unusable, I can't seat straight and there is literally no space behand it. The interior is much smaller than the published measurements. The 14" screen is also smaller than I thought due to the very long aspect ratio, it is quite low in height. The 3D gauge is not that impressive at all. Worse yet, there are only two cup holders. in the first two rows, if you have 3 passengers in the second row. The door pockets are really for pens and pockets changes and can't hold a water bottle. I thought they may be expanded but they can't . The driver seat massage is essentially nothing and difficult to feel.

In addition, the dealership is chaotic and has nothing to relate to premium. GV80 was on the top of my list, but this visit is a letdown. I've to find another opportunity to drive to love it.

My biggest gripes on mine..... a lot of the advertised "Genesis Connected" App features aren't available here in Canada. I've seen Youtube videos of people able monitor the surroundings of the car through the car cameras all while on their app (similar to Tesla)..... we don't get that. The app and the car have a driver setting that does not interact between phone/app and car. The app tells you to login to your driver profile on the car but there is no communication between the 2. The mileage is awful. The UI was tricky at first but once I moved all the icons I don't use to the end of the menu..... it left only the icons I used and the it was much easier to access menus etc. I am not a fan of the rotary control for the UI. Traction on the finger tips is poor and sometimes leads to pressing harder which initiates other unintended functions.... same problem with the volume control as well truthfully. As others have said.... very small glove box and console storage. Overall however, I'm still happy with the purchase and the praise and intrigue from family and friends is nice. It's definitely different and garnishes attention!

Find a different dealer. I've been to several different dealers within 75 miles of my home (South Jersey) and all have offered me a ride. They say Genesis is mandating that they have a demo available, actually giving them a vehicle that can't be sold yet. I am only interested in the 3.5T Prestige and not all the dealers had that as their demo but they still offered a test drive in the demo available. My regular dealer just scheduled me to test drive a 'not sold yet' 3.5T Prestige Monday night but requested me not to put too many miles on it. It's my night drive to evaluate lighting.

At first, I thought I was imagining things. As I sat at the light waiting, I said to myself. Man, this engine is really quiet. Then I glanced at the tach and discovered the engine was off. Took my foot off the brake and the car just started to move with the tach now at idle speed. I found it hard to believe that I couldn’t tell it was turning off. After a few more stops I realized why I couldn’t tell it was because I didn’t feel or hear the engine start again. I always said to myself I wouldn’t want such a feature and I would turn it off if I had it but the implementation of it here is amazing. If I didn’t look at the tach when stopped I wouldn’t know the feature was active. The response from stand still appears to be immediate so I thought maybe I can live with this. Left it on.

I've had mixed results with the Auto Start/Stop feature. Usually I don't notice it. The other day, I found it impossible to start from a stop without a jerk. I turned off the feature and my drive went back to being smooth. I don't know why I didn't notice an issue with it earlier. I'll give it a try again today

I'm glad it can be turned off

So far my experience with this feature has been very good but you’re right if it ever starts getting annoying…it’s a good thing it can be turned off.

I find that when I'm sitting at a light with my foot on the brake it will start up again and the first time that happened I thought someone bumped me from behind because my foot was firmly on the brake. It's a little unnerving. But I guess it started up again because I'm in Florida and it was warm so the A/C had to kick back on therefore the engine had to start again. I'm getting a little more use to it but still check my rear view mirror when it happens. Good thing I have 360 camera to make sure.

It's been very cold here in NY since I drove mine home two weeks ago as such I haven't experienced it with the AC running. It will interesting to see how it feels then. I'll remember your comments.

I am still having trouble playing my music using the same USB Drive that I had in my 2017 G90 Ultimate.

I went to another dealer and asked to test the USB in another vehicle. We tested two USBs my original one from the G90 and a new, USB Drive that I copied music into. The results were the same. Some mp3 files played and others indicated "file errors." I plugged my iPhone 12 into the USB port and through Apple Play, it plays the same music properly. The files are either mp3 or m4a. I read post from previous years suggesting the size of the flash drive might be a problem. I performed a test using a 4 GB drive and I got the same results.

Can you take the files that error out and re-record they on the same drive and/or on a different drive? Don just copy them, download them again from your phone.

I think my issue with the Auto Start/Stop may have been made more noticeable when I was using the Auto Hold feature -- we're going on our first road trip next week -- the Fantastic Five Utah National Parks. it should be terrific! I hope to have most of the features of my GV80 mastered by the tine we get home

I went back to the originals on my Dropbox and restored them in multiple ways - different flash drives, different reformats all with no results. However, I decided to convert the files to a ,wav format (not one of the Genesis recommended ones). Then I copied six folders , as a test, onto a USB 3.0 flash drive, formatted on a Mac as exfat. All the tracks played without any problems. Here is the challenge; the WAV files are 6 times bigger than the mp3s. My music takes up about 40 GB, so I need a 256 GB flash drive. I am about to buy one to test. There could be problems. The GV80 might not recognize a drive that large. Also, I have a Sandisk SSD (1 TB) that I am reformatting and will try that as well. This all takes time so I wish Genesis would address the issue. So far the people with whom I spoke haven't responded

Save yourself a lot of time and effort. Just redo one of the files that didn’t work. you can download that file in different formats and see which ones are recognized.

That's available on the GV80 3.5t Advanced+ model and I like it! (That and the ability to be able to see exactly where your car is located at any time!) Now if we just had the ability to use the Built In Cam App to capture videos.

Most of the files were not recognized and some would play for a few seconds. I solved the problem but Genesis does have work to do. What they say should work, does not. I do understand that some files might have characters embedded in the name that could cause a problem, however, the files did work in my 2017 G90 so the expectation is they should work in the GV80. The one file extension that does work is a .WAV file. I converted all my files to this format (it took a while since I have 3,800 music files in over 100 folders.) I used Movavi Video Converter 21 Premium (works for audio also). You can drag an entire folder into the app and it converts very fast. It's available online for about $40. I formatted the SSD Sandisk drive with EXFAT and transferred the files. I added a VIDEO folder to the collection. When I voice command to "Open USB video", it does so. File selection is the same as the audio files. You can use a flash drive as well. I suggest USB 3, at least. Sandisk has a USB 3.2 (Sandisk Extreme Pro.) I'm going to copy the files onto it and leave it in the compartment as a backup.

Seriously? If my dealer had another GV80 I'd go and check it out but they don't.

Does anyone else out there in GV80 land with a vehicle hear the loud radiator fan noise when standing in front of the car or am I losing it?
I hear the exact same thing. It’s almost like the thermostat believes the car is overheating and kicks in another level of speed or secondary fan. I’ve only had the car for three days so i sent a note to my sales person to pick up it up for a service appointment. It’s cold here is Dallas so it’s definitely not overheating. I would attach an audio file but i think this site only accept pics. I will update my post after i have the dealt check it out.
