  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Front license plate

does the GV80 have a threaded tow hook on the front like the sedans?

if it does you can mount it there; hundreds of options on amazon and ebay for that:

have to have one in CA as well, personally i don't.. its a $25 fix it ticket, but I haven't had an issue in 30 years. never put front plates on my car, ruins the look. Wish I could get rid of the rear as well..

I'm in a state (Washington) that requires a front plate and while it looks a little crappy, I just go with it. I see a lot of cars that don't have front plates attached and probably the likely hood of getting a ticket is probably pretty small unless you give a cop a bad time.

I get a kick out of some of these non front platers in Washington who jam the front plate behind the front window (usually on the passenger side). When the vehicle is parked, that really looks shitty IMO.

I have a buddy that trimmed his front plate to fit on the passenger visor, and flips down the visor when he parks. that looks shitty. .

I’m in NY so need a front plate. Dealer put a bracket on the grill which looks terrible. Anyone have a solution to place it lower on the bumper? I know there are sensors etc but yuck on the grill kills the whole look.
NY'er as well
im leaning on not putting it on and dealing with the potential outcomes.

NYS here too, the rest of the car is so beautiful, I just ignore the plate!

This would be nice.

Hit the button when you see a cop! Or wait until the cop is at the front door saying he's pulled you over for not front plate. Immediately hit the button, count to 3 and say "You must have me mixed up with another car". It might even screw up his mind to the point where he forgets he pulled you over for speeding".

I actually think a front plate complements the large grill.

I live in NY had my G70 for a year and a half never did put a front plate on it.
Couldn't stand the way it looked with a front plate. Never did get bothered or stopped.
Not saying it wouldn't have eventually been noticed. Will be doing the same with the GV80. Know a few friends that have done the same for years and never got stopped. That's why I tried it. Always kept the plate in the trunk and figured I could try saying I was waiting for the mounting bracket.

I hear ya - I drove my '09 G37 in Dallas for 10 years and never had a front plate installed, kept it in the trunk. Never got stopped or even questioned. Put it on before I sold it, though.

Also a NY’er and looking for a solution. So far I’ve found Sly Brackets - No-drill Front License Plate Bracket Holder Mounts For All Car Types - East To Install - No Holes - No Drills but that doesn’t eliminate the problem. Wish they’d just drop the front plate requirement altogether.

I tried it as well but it set off the sensors.
Did you try mounting it at the very bottom grill or at the bottom of the top grill?

Just wondering cause I’m AUS we have the same requirement for front plates and I want a better solution than the stock one from Genesis.

The very bottom grill not the main grill since my point was in trying to keep the main grill free. No matter what I did or how I adjusted it it set off the sensors. I ordered one from EOS that goes in the front tow hook. We will see how that works out. Not as attractive a placement as the sly bracket but anything to avoid using the genesis one that goes on the grill

There is is a radar sensor in the middle of the bottom grill. You are not suppose to cover it.
