If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone had success in replacing a bad SCC module in the grill?
Mine started flaking out so I took it in and their $129 diagnostic says it is bad and needs to to be replaced.
It worked from time to time, but wasn't so dependable any more.
So I found a deal on the exact same part number from a junkyard and installed it.
It did not work, so I paid an online Hyundai technician that told me the module can only be introduced to the ECM using a Hyundai ECM dealer scan tool.
I took it in and for another $129 they said they won't try to integrate it as the radiator mount was slightly bent.
So I found a similar radiator mount in a junkyard and removed the front end radiator mount and cable harnesses and replaced it with a nice straight one and redressed.
I took it in again and for another $129, I am told it failed to integrate the module and I need to buy a brand new one (unused) to integrate (over $4000).
Now these SSC modules are sold all the time on eBay and from junkyards. Is it not possible to replace like for like parts even using the dealers ECM tool?

The only option is the dealer replaces it for over $4500 or I can get a new (unused) one from eBay at $2500.
That is 40-50% value of the car so is not likely to happen.

I cannot find many details on this subject.
Is there just not any way to get a good, used SCC module to integrate into my car?

does that mean your car not have a cruise control? that is horrible.

I put the old one back on and it worked for a short drive. We'll see if it will stays on next time.

I'd almost bet they didn't even truly try. They want that money, and its crazy parts are still this expensive for almost a 10 yr old platform

I was curious how hard it is to get at, and how it's mounted. Mine seems overly sensitive to the right lane when passing on interstate. The dealer talked about a re-calibration, that would have cost several hundred dollars, as I recall. I was thinking about just putting some sort of spacer or washer under one side, so the transmitter points a little more to the left.

If you have a 2012 3.8 Sedan It mounts on the Radiator Core Support panel not the Grill It's available on ebay in the the 300 and 400s price range I used to test in my car and collect them from junk yards Just to have Plenty junk yard sellers or recyclers as they like to call themselves don't care about or just don't know the value of these SCC Genesis modules

The cruise control now stays on, but spotting a car in front is spotty at best and not as reliable anymore, so I must be attentive.

I have two R Spec V8 Sedans(13&14) replaced both SCC modules from the junkyard(with matching part numbers)they worked on the vehicles right off the bat never had to do any type of recalibration It was just plug and play

I guess the 2011 V8 sedan was a bit pickier.
Dealer couldn’t integrate it.

You have to get one for a 2011 It's the same SCC module but a different version If is from a car exactly like yours it must work Plug and Play unless that SCC module itself has an issue other than that it's smooth sailing plug and play I used to collect them because most junkyard recyclers didn't know much about them and their value You wouldn't believe how much I used to pay for them things

I got a 2011 with less that 200 miles with the exact same P/N. Only difference it was off of an Equus.

So in that case, do any of you guys have one of these for a 2012 3.8 prem/tech packages?

Off hand right now I got 2 extra ones. One for a 13 and another for a 14 both R Specs I am not quite sure about the compatibility with the 3.8 12 Tech I have to see and compare all numbers on your unit to mines If you still have your old SCC unit on your car you can unscrew it, detach it and post a couple of pics

It is working now but I cannot trust it to sense a car in front of me and slow down. Sometimes it sees a car and other times it does not even though it is right in front.

Make sure you get one with the same exact part number and software version like the original one on your vehicle It will work perfectly
