  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone had success in replacing a bad SCC module in the grill?
Mine started flaking out so I took it in and their $129 diagnostic says it is bad and needs to to be replaced.
It worked from time to time, but wasn't so dependable any more.
So I found a deal on the exact same part number from a junkyard and installed it.
It did not work, so I paid an online Hyundai technician that told me the module can only be introduced to the ECM using a Hyundai ECM dealer scan tool.
I took it in and for another $129 they said they won't try to integrate it as the radiator mount was slightly bent.
So I found a similar radiator mount in a junkyard and removed the front end radiator mount and cable harnesses and replaced it with a nice straight one and redressed.
I took it in again and for another $129, I am told it failed to integrate the module and I need to buy a brand new one (unused) to integrate (over $4000).
Now these SSC modules are sold all the time on eBay and from junkyards. Is it not possible to replace like for like parts even using the dealers ECM tool?

The only option is the dealer replaces it for over $4500 or I can get a new (unused) one from eBay at $2500.
That is 40-50% value of the car so is not likely to happen.

I cannot find many details on this subject.
Is there just not any way to get a good, used SCC module to integrate into my car?

The original SCC appears to be working OK now with the replaced radiator mount.

that is good to hear.

as for the replacement one that wouldn't marry. guaranty it is a tech that is not computer savvy and doesn't know how to do it. Ran into a similar issue with my G80 and the programming of the smart key card. tech told me because I bought it online (new) and not from their dealership it wouldn't work.

100% bull$hit. and I told them that, he needed to PROPERLY follow the TSB on how to do it, which required him to not have the normal key fobs within range of the vehicle while programming the Smart Card. After I involved the SM and pointed out the tech was not following proper procedure as outlined in the manual, because low and behold the SM made it work by following the directions.

I realize this thread hasn't been active for a while but I have the same dilemma now in my 2013 Genesis that I just acquired after selling the exact same one I bought new in 2013, which was my second one....long story short, replaced SSC with one from eBay with exact part number and software revision.....still get the fault light and no response when I try to engage....do I need to go to the dealer and can the dealer really program it or reprogram it.....anyone else deal with this....thanks in advance
