  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

fastest 1/4 mile on rspec 5.0

2014 R Spec, rear muffler delete only with 235/45-19 National Commando HTS tires merging onto the highway. I pulled the esc fuse, pushed esc button and replaced the fuse. I have not been to the drag strip yet but it has to be better than this, I spun in 1st and 2nd. It short shifted into 3rd and bogged a little. No brake torquing or suspension loading of any kind, I just rolled into it about 10 ft and matted it.

That's not bad considering you were spinning the tires. Checking on the trans gears, hp, torque our cars are a little different. Mine is 420hp @ 6000, 383 @ 5000. Weight- yours is 4240lbs, mine is 4561lbs. Trans gearing is a little different, rear gears are the same.

Do you have a "Sport Mode"? Paddle shifter? If you had more tire? I don't know how a 275 would fit on a 8in rim. Might have to change the rear rims depending on what's available.

It does have sport mode but when you run it out it shifts at 6800 in auto or sport. I had 255 Federal SS595 on a dakota rt and they hooked pretty good. That truck didn't have near the horses of the mighty 5.0 but torque was close to the same and at a much lower rpm, it also didn't have torque management taking power out of it. 255 40s would fit real nice.

These are both stock ecu and tcu, now I have a tuned ecu and tcu so I should be breaking 12’s consistently on motor and on spray I should be breaking 11’s

Hey Steve, Finally found you. Looks like I lost the link to the conversation we were having. I'll be taking the G80 to the dealer before the ABS turns it into a melted pile of junk. Need to get the slight pull to the right taken care of also. Took it to a friends shop to have it checked and he said to take it to the dealer. Also been working on the TBird. Terminator X is in and running thanks to a tuner in Kansas. Spent 3 weeks installing the computer where it's not supposed to go and replacing all the engine wiring, adding and moving sensors. Have about 7hrs of tuning so far.

What is your ABS doing? I took mine to an alignment shop a while back and he blamed its slight pull on the tires. Dang, you've been getting some work done. I haven't really done much with mine. I did end up getting some 17x9s for the back and some softer tires. Yesterday I got it back from the exhaust shop, I kept all 4 cats but had the resonator replaced with an x pipe and black widow widowmaker 10s to replace the stock mufflers. The stock 2" from the axle back was also replaced with 2.5" pipe. I did manage to get it to the drag strip back when I had the stock tires. 2 best were 8.29 at 73 and 8.72 at 80, poor traction on both runs.

I got a recall notice from Genesis about corrosion on the ABS module, possible fire risk. Some are saying not to park it in your garage. Not much information beyond that.
The Holley Terminator X is a great engine management system. Took me about 3 weeks to remove the old harness, figure out what wires I still need, adapt the Holley harness to the TBird. Had to add a fuel and oil pressure sensors, replace the stock coolant and manifold air temp sensors. The 33 year old engine harness had a few issues and was at the end of it's life cycle by a decade.
I mounted the computer in my vertical console by the shifter and replaced my clock with the new monitor. Turned out pretty good. They show you mounting the computer under the passenger seat but it has 9 troubleshooting lights you might want to see.
They say the system is "self learning", not really. I was lucky and found a tuner on the Holley Terminator X Forum. All he works on are Holley systems. The average idiot like me would end up beating their heads on the floor in frustration trying to start it. Had to remove my vacuum reservoir because it interfered with the computer MAP sensor. The car would not start. This is not in the book. You better know what cam, injectors, timing you have for the programing. Don't guess it. So far we have about 7hrs in the programing. I have my laptop hooked up and Andrew operates it remotely from Kansas. All tuning is done in real time. Then I drive it during the week, Andrew copies the data file, does his magic, and installs the new tune. Each time the car runs better. Had to change my 70mm throttle body and install my 65mm. Idle smoothed out. Relocated the MAT sensor from the intake to my BBK cold air intake, before the throttle body, because it was getting too warm. Got the A/C recharged today so now I need the A/C input for idle and output for WOT assigned. I think I will be done! With tuning I have about $2000 in it.

I'll bet you're glad to finally be done. All the time and work you've put into that car definitely shows. I know others here may not have seen the rest of the car but it is a jaw dropper inside and out, top to bottom. You did top quality work on every inch of that car.

Yes, I think I'm done with the modifications as far as go-fast stuff. Thanks for the kind words. I still have a tuning session left. Need to set the the WOT with the A/C and idle when you turn the A/C on to limit the RPM drop and check fuel tables. Next is replace my pitted front windshield. I have "new" trim for it. Media blasted some good trim, painted it with SEM primer and black satin, looks as good as new.

What type of rims and tires did you get? I think 17" rims are the best looking on a car. The right amount of rim and tire. I have 17x9" on the TBird with 245/40/17 BFG Comp 2. The rims are 93 Cobra and only come in 17x9". What RPM are you at when you leave? Do you have a shift kit or trans brake?

How does the exhaust sound with the new pipe and mufflers? Notice any gain? My wife would kill me in my sleep if I mess with the G80. I think she has the car bugged because she appears everytime I open the hood. You would not want to take the TBird on a 50 mile drive without earplugs. Forget listening to the radio.

You're welcome. Enkei TX5 17X9 +45 offset, fits up under the car good. 255 is as wide as you can go with a 9" wheel and the offset I chose, 275 would fit with a spacer or less offset. I may get 18x7 for the front because of the brakes but haven't decided yet, it's a long wait for wheels. The stock wheel and tire is very heavy, next time I think about it I'm going out to the shed with a magnet to see if maybe it's an aluminum clad steel wheel. You can tote the Enkei with tire mounted with 1 hand.

On acceleration the car is kinda loud but way deeper toned than I ever would have thought. My wife says it is louder than when it had the stock 2" tail pipe with no muffler but it sounds like it has a big set of balls instead of just making a bunch of noise. Cruising at 70 you can talk at normal voice levels, it's like a hum. When the car is cold and you start it there is a crackle for about 2 seconds then a very slight oscillation for a few seconds but when it idles down it's not loud at all, just a low deep rumble.

It has a very noticeable increase in part throttle acceleration, full throttle seems better but I haven't been back to the track so I can't say for sure. In 1st gear I left at 1000 rpm and still had traction problems but I haven't been back since I got the new tires. It will stall higher and leave softer if you brake torque and leave in 2nd per driveway testing but I don't want to make a habit of that. It's nearly as good as a transbrake doing that, it goes up to about 2600-2650 but it isn't a quick solid hit, it takes longer to lift your foot than release a button and it takes time for the brakes to fully release. Edit: I haven't been to the track on the new tires, I'm waiting until it warms up a little more.

I had an idea for a transbrake but I don't know if it would work and I don't know if all the nannies it has would even allow it to work. I'd hate to go cutting and splicing the factory wiring for something that can't work. I would be more inclined to try it if space wasn't so tight and the factory harness was a little longer.
