If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
No Genesis Yet!
Two-spoke wheel on 2.5 is ugly, I think you will agree.
Leather seats with mesh or suede cheapen the seats, only quilted leather seats look luxurious.
No HUD on any of the models except the most expensive one? Come on man
Bad gas efficiencies, especially the 3.5.
Add price markup and no dedicated Genesis dealership?

I won't be buying this 1st edition. Will you?

Yes, I'll be getting a 3.5 Sport Prestige if I'm satisfied with the lease deal.

Probably not, now that the pricing is about $5-$10k over what it should be (considering G70).

Probably will if I am enamored with the car in person. Saw it in person in the color white and was not impressed. Some cars look great in white but IMO this is not one of them.

I just want ass coolers, parking assistant standard, and peace of mind that after 4 years, i might have some reliability and warranty coverage.

i want the Merc GLC but I just cant justify paying the difference. Ill go with GV70….maybe maybe BMW x3

No, not this first year’s model. I’m going to wait to see what options and configurations are available next year. The electric version interests me, especially.

Just put new tires on my 2010 Lexus RX450h (with 100k mi) today! I was seriously considering a 2.5 GV70 as a replacement, willing to give up MPG for style, sportier pickup, and handling. Unfortunately, the lack of HUD, fully digital gauges, pricing, etc. has turned me off. With rising gas prices, and trouble-free performance (thus far), I've decided to hang on to the Lexus for another year.

New in here as I'm thinking if pulling the trigger on a Sport/Prestige here in Phoenix. I test drove it yesterday and was pretty impressed. I've had them all in 60 years and I'm sold on the quality of Genesis and Hyundai in general. I had a Kia Stinger GT for awhile and that was an impressive car for the money.

That said the price on the loaded up GV70 seems about 5k-7 high to me. Especially now as they will get full sticker plus the dumb dealer ad ons with no argument. 66k is a lot of change and no it is not a BMW, Audi or Mercedes. The question is is it worth it? Don't know. It is now in todays incredibly upside down world where most people actually came out ahead on Covid with soaring home equity and stock market gains because people are out there throwing it around.

I really think this is a special vehicle. Partly because it is the new kid on the block. I like most of it. Not a real fan of the large back black area with the exhaust tips. I'd rather have 20" wheels instead of 21 ( I know you get 19's with the lower trims but I want the LSD and the carbon, HUD etc. I'm not a real fan of the suede seats either but that's what you get if you go big. Not a fan of all the gloss touch area's on the wheel and the climate controls. Bring a micro towel. I love the over all lines of the thing. I think it is far more interesting than the Audi. A BMW M40i loaded like this will be over 70k. The motor is great with dual port injection and a ton of power. Handling felt good. Not as sharp as the G70 of my Stinger but its an SUV after all.

They really snuck this thing out early to the dealers and the on-line reviewers can't be happy. There is almost nothing on-line yet. The dealer in in Phoenix was shocked when they got 6 out of the blue.

I love it but having a hard time getting my head around a Korean brand that has only been around a few years. If I do it I will lease it.

Just wait six months, the chip shortages will be over and they will be discounting these as they sit on dealer lots. Got to be nuts to pay msrp or more. With the very high money factor on the new genesis models, leasing these is insanely expensive.

You might have a point however trade in value on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline is so high ( 40k which is more than I paid for it 2 years ago) that if I do a single pay lease/trade I would essentially be paying the entire lease up front, saving a ton in interest and taxes (8% here in AZ) so yes.. still paying top dollar but if the residual is 57% or less the buy out could be favorable or just turn it in.

My feeling is with the Government shoving electric down our throats buying a high end, high performance gas vehicle might not be a great idea. Everyone is now paying full MSRP on anything that is desirable because of the China/Covid/chip shortage and from what I read that is going to last another year. Time will tell. For now the whole economy is upside down with many people coming out way ahead financially due to the China flu and now that it's essentially over people are throwing money around like drunken sailors inflation or not.

Honest? I’m here and very interested in replacing our totaled 2015 Audi Allroad with 2.5T Select GV70 or 2018 used Macan. Im gonna sound grumpy here but I’m a reformed Teutonic car snob and I know this because the Steering wheel of non sport GV70 bothers the snot out of me. But its not enough to get the “Sport” and the boy racer red stitching and obscene exhaust holes.
This cross over is for my wife. We also share a German 2 seat convertable with Manual so we not looking to get our GForce Fix from a compact cross over. I’m smitten with the Porsche Macon. Performance and reliable are nice but maintenance will be costly. I go in with my eyes wide open. I’m also not so much into my cars as I used to be and find repairs now a pain in the ass. My budget is around 45k US Give or take.
Side by side the GV70 holds up well and perhaps I’m leaning towards the Genesis as projected costs are good and not every car has to be life changing experience. I’m not going to be the daily driver but I will be driving from time to time and get a say. If we go Macon I will be responsible for its upkeep.
We usually compromise on color and I ask we don’t go overlay effeminate but she gets final say. AKA, I don’t want to feel like I’m driving my wife’s car or “your mother gets white with tan, please don’t pick that!” Honestly the base model is pretty attractive also for the money. I’m a drive train guy over amenities so that’s going to sway my decision.
Wife is fine and walked away from accident where she was not cited for any infraction. We really wanted to wait a few years as the Allroad only has 65k miles on it and wanted electric for next vehicle. Choices are slim and not a fan of Tesla.
The design of the GV70 would have to be appreciated in person and how it “feels”. I expect lots of heavy padding and stictching inside with bejeweled shiny surfaces to seduce my softer side while the Macan Teutonic design with oh so many buttons will elevate my testosterone if owned. One does not bemoan repairs but finds bragging rights to why brake calipers cost so damn much on a Porsche! Its not about adding carbon fiber on a 4000lb crossover and calling it sport! Real sports cars hurt the wallet bad!
Ok, I did own a 2004 2.7T Allroad with 6MT and it was burgandy! So why does this Genesis Burgandy scream “Hairdresser car” to me? Its roots are not in Germany! I admit it.
Honestly, when it comes to Genesis Im more ”Peter Gabriel” then “Phil Collins”! But I appreciate a good tune and a good car! I’m looking forward to the test drive!

Frankly you can make your point while refraining from jibes (China ___) which will take us off topic into crap we don’t want to discuss here. I happen to agree with you that the 3.5 engine is on the way out. I am interested in the 2.5 or the upcoming EV model, and no, not because the government is forcing me to do it. Because the numbers work in my state.

You sound like a good candidate for a used Macan purchased with CPO protection package. Freedom from worry about the repair costs for a nice long while.

For me, the interior design of the GV70 is mostly a plus. And the exterior color choices are, also. Frankly, you and others who think similarly are the reason why the German cars are only available in white, black and grey. I prefer a vehicle with a mixture of understated elegance (which the GV70 has in the sheet metal) and panache, which it has in the the interior lines and a few of the color choices. My favorites are the matte green with brown interior (1st preference) and the matte grey with green interior (2nd). Of course, tastes vary.

Look into a certified Macan and let us know your final choice!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Did not see those matte green color choices on gv70. Matte colors are compelling bit @1500$ a bit steep. I have to look into Cpo cars a bit more. Not doing details yet until car is totaled. That we have 3rd car makes no rush until winter. We in NC and even then it’s doable. I can order what we want or shop long.

...My feeling is with the Government shoving electric down our throats buying a high end, high performance gas vehicle might not be a great idea. ...
I worry about that a bit too. Then again, as I told my wife, this may be the last high-powered ICE care we get to buy - in 3-5 years when we go to change it out we may not have an option for ICE.

I'd go electric except a) the range is terrible here in MN winters, and b) to get a 240V outlet in my garage I am looking at a minimum, I was told by an electrician, of $6K - if they can do it at all: my power comes in way over the other side of the house, and the only feasible way to get a line across would be to pull a cable up to the second story, figure out how to cross the cathedral ceiling internally in that spot, then bring it back down to the garage. I'd be surprised if they could do it for $10K! The very high prices of electric cars is jaw dropping as well...

Hey Pratt, this is off topic, however, regarding the power for an EV. I would consult another electrician or two for sure. My brother in law owns his own electrical contracting company in IL and the most I believe I have ever heard him charge is 4-5k. You want one that has installed many of them. Now, if its because your basement panel is impossible to get to then MAYBE. But I think a solid electrician can find a way to route the cables easier because that wire needed for a home charger is not cheap.

In this market, I got the white one because it was available with interior I wanted with a thought to later wrap the outside in matte vinyl - paint protection and fun in one package

I went Alta White because it's the best AVAILABLE color for this vehicle...IMO!

I lurk on the tesla forums, they are often done for under $1K if there are no capacity or access issues to deal with. I've done my own electrical work for 20 some years, it's only a hundred in material and some labor/permit fees.

I like both wheels. I ordered the 2.5. I won’t have a HUD but have never had it so it’s fine for me. I have short arms so the 2 spine steering wheel allows me to rest my arms comfortably and still hold on to the wheel.
