Didn't realise so many of you were in the Markham area.
Yea I think it's kind of a hotspot for Genesis, that's why they're building the standalone Genesis showroom in the DVN area.Didn't realise so many of you were in the Markham area.
$838 for front pads? HOLY CRAP!!!Hey all, jumping in here, really confused to what I should do. My brakes and rotors need to be replaced. Dealership wants $2500 plus HST, I have a mechanic buddy who will do them for me at no charge, just need to get parts.
From the dealership, I am being quoted:
Rotors front $190 each, Rotors rear $179 each
Pads front $838, rear pads $452
plus HST, he did say he can knock off 10% tho
still comes out to about $2062 including everything...
Although they have stock.
reading through threads here, I am seeing that aftermarket parts are MUCH cheaper, but I don't know what to get. I'm not tracking, and it's the family car. I like to drive a bit aggressive at times, but basically the current pads served me great.
As an aside, reading through this thread, I did have the vibration issue during braking, which I didn't realize was a common issue. Dealership replaced them under warranty and vibration went away...
My car is basically grounded, I have only about 1-2 mm left of pad on each tire, and my buddy is saying I really shouldn't be driving it.
Any advice on what parts to get?
Those rotor prices don't seem terrible for OEM. The pad prices are out of this world. I've never heard of pad pricing being anywhere near that high. $83 yes, $838 no way. Seriously though...KNS Brakes, I just priced front and rear pads and rotors. Hawk HPS 5.0 pads, and DBA T3 4000 rotors. Shipped to my door was $1,075. I'll get the parts, you make the six hour drive, I'll install them for a beer or two(after work is done), and save you $1,400!Hey all, jumping in here, really confused to what I should do. You could. Are you sure the rotors need to be replaced though?Spoke w/ Rob, he's got the pads in stock but 10 days for the rotors. In case I didn't mention it, I have the 3.3T Sport w/ Brembo, which I understand is the same as the Stinger GT
So I wonder if I can get away w/ dealership rotors and pads from Rob?
So after some more digging around: Both those pads are made by centric, but they are different lines. Stoptech is meant for sports cars, and the posi-quiet are dubbed 'ultra premium' pads. That would explain why the rear pads (posi-quiet) cost more than the front.
Is anyone able to figure out, or provide a good resource, to determine the part numbers for these pads? Stoptech starts with 309 and posi-quiet with 105.
The front Stoptech pads are 309.10010. What would the part number be for the equivalent rear pads?
Reason I ask is because the front Stoptech pads are available on amazon with free shipping. But I can't find the rear posi-quiet ones. I have a suspicion that amazon probably carries the rear stoptech pads aswell.
As much as I'd like to support Rob, getting them from Amazon for free, without tax, quicker delivery, and no hassle returns is hard not to do.
