  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Do you guys have these 3 tiny protective film patches along the bottom of the rear doors? Curious if anyone knows why they are where they are? I don't mind them and they're barely visible, just seems random. The door handles or front door edges seem like better locations.

Thanks, would have expected the protection to be behind the wheel well, not in front for debris. You have the same patches?

We all have them. Also, my wife's WRX has them, but they're bigger.

Good to know, appreesh. I had to finish removing random factory plastic from the interior when I first got it. And I have yet to see anyone concerned with putting PPF on the rear door. When the car gets dirty those little patches can stand out more. Wanted to make sure I wasn't driving around with some shipping protection that is supposed to be removed, ha.

I just ironically noticed these while washing my car after 2 1/2 months of owning my ‘19 G70 and was also thinking what are these? I also have the rear bumper protector but these make no sense to me? Why are they placed in those spots specifically? Can we remove them if we want to?

They are there as protection for the paint. Some engineers spend many hours in wind tunnel and road testing and found that road grit is most likely to hit those spots, most likely to wear at the paint like a long term sandblast. Sure, you can remove them but there are potential consequences long term. May even jeopardize the rust through warranty.

pretty common on most new cars

I purchased my 2018 G80 Pre-Owned. It did have the clear plastic door edge, door handle guards. Very good quality I must say. I think they were dealer installed accessories that the previous owner got.

Door edge is dealer, the part you show looks factory. Measure it. The factory ones come up about 6" from the lip. My car is blue and they are barely visible.

Oof, so that's what they were for, I sadly removed them on my first wash :( I thought they were supposed to be removed...

I did find removable film still on the center console. I was wondering why it was sticky and soft.
