They are there as protection for the paint. Some engineers spend many hours in wind tunnel and road testing and found that road grit is most likely to hit those spots, most likely to wear at the paint like a long term sandblast. Sure, you can remove them but there are potential consequences long term. May even jeopardize the rust through warranty.I just ironically noticed these while washing my car after 2 1/2 months of owning my ‘19 G70 and was also thinking what are these? I also have the rear bumper protector but these make no sense to me? Why are they placed in those spots specifically? Can we remove them if we want to?
Door edge is dealer, the part you show looks factory. Measure it. The factory ones come up about 6" from the lip. My car is blue and they are barely visible.I purchased my 2018 G80 Pre-Owned. It did have the clear plastic door edge, door handle guards. Very good quality I must say. I think they were dealer installed accessories that the previous owner got.
