  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Took delivery of my GV70 two weeks ago and my battery has died twice. Has any one had a similar problem? When I saw the car in the showroom, the tailgate wouldn't open for me to inspect it and the salesperson said it was because the battery was dead from sitting in the showroom. I took delivery of the car and was assured the battery was well charged. The car sat in my driveway for a few days and it died. I had to call Genesis Roadside Assistance for a charge on a Saturday to get it back to the dealership. They installed a new battery at my insistence, only to have that one die exactly two weeks later. They are now going to run diagnostics after the Labor Day weekend. Asked me where I store the key. Evidently if it is too close to the car the computer never shuts off and can drain the battery. Any one have a similar problem?? Hope I didn't buy a lemon.

Did you have a follow up after the diagnostics was done. I am waiting for a new battery so finding out your results would help me moving forward.

When they ran diagnostics they said there was no drain on the battery and the alternator was charging the battery. Keep in touch and let me know when your battery arrives so I can get on my dealer to get his ass in gear. Good luck

Certainly will do. I am also pursuing my case # with Genesis Consumer Affairs to put more pressure on them. Also did I tell you that the 1st time our battery went dead they said the same thing after running diagnostics and put us back on the road only to have it happen again 2 weeks later. My husband has multimeter and monitored battery voltage from the time we got it back into our garage and the next morning and it continued to drop. Barely got it started, drove 125 miles to dealership... don't know what the reading was at that time but they immediately put a charger on it and now 2 weeks later we find out that they couldn't even get it to take a charge...thus the new battery order. Now is there an underlying problem, I asked to which they replied "gotta start somewhere". You gotta know I will make dam sure they monitor the new battery before they drop it at my doorstep and put me out there at risk again of being stranded. Scary and very stressful, I don't care that oh well you have roadside assistance as they like to say, I need a car I can depend on especially because I am in a very rural area. No Uber etc. Sounds like we need to keep this thread going!!!

Absolutely!! I also have a Complaint ID #.... I'm sorry we have to deal with this.. and we are not alone!!

What are you using for transportation in the mean time? Is the GV70 totally disabled until you get a battery? Hang in there. At least I can drive my car in the meantime. Will keep you posted.

Have had our Sport Advanced for 2 months with 3500 miles on it, no battery problems or any other issues at all. Love this car..

The dealership has been really accommodating with a loaner car G80. As the GV70 is our one and only form of transportation that was critical. Talked to consumer affairs yesterday and the couple of days for battery to come in has now changed to backorder, don't know when!!! What kind of battery did they put in your car. You said another vehicle? GV70? or something else?

Glad you are having a lot better experience than me and a couple other battery brethren! Keep us in your prayers🚗

Can’t understand why some are having a battery issue, and many others are not.. makes no sense.

Had to be GV70, no other battery will fit in the battery compartment. Glad you have a loaner
You are lucky to be in a large metro area where, I am sure, they have more inventory. We had to travel 250 miles to get the car we wanted in St Louis. Any of the dealers in po-dunk Arkansas would only get one car in stock. Now we have to get warranty service at an Arkansas dealership 125 miles away. Not real convenient but who would have thunk we would be put in such a position.

I miss my 🚘
Bad batch of batteries?
So it would seem..

if you think about, all the pressure on supply chains in the last year or so, some folks or companies may be cutting corners to either meet tight deadlines or other numbers/metrics. short term thinking fail, perhaps causing higher than normal failure rates for all kinda parts. esp when its a one-off vendor where Genesis doesnt even have a choice to go thru someone else, its bound to happen that some might take advantage of the situation, not fully understanding what the long term effects of cutting corners might end up being.

as far as Genesis goes, they really need to step their game up when it comes to quality. I realize they're brand new to the game, every car company goes thru growing pains - but if they're coming for the likes of Lexus, they better not drop the ball this early. they might find regardless of how gorgeous their vehicles are, consumers might lose all trust in them due to piss poor quality control up & down their supply chain.

I hope they rise to the occasion and perform to customer satisfaction.

Hey Jimmymoc! Sorry you are having a similar problem, but I'm glad I'm not alone! I am now two weeks out tomorrow with my current battery from another vehicle. I am using the car everyday, and so far it has been starting up every time I use it. We'll see what happens tomorrow morning. A source who will remain nameless from my dealership spoke off the record and said they are seeing more and more of these battery issues with the GV70. The problem is that no other battery will fit into the battery compartment of the GV70. It is so new that Interstate and other battery manufacturers do not even have it in their production schedules yet. So you can't even get a third party battery. My dealer is waiting for brand new factory fresh batteries from South Korea, but with all this BS about container ships and supply chain issues, God knows how long it will be before they arrive. The other issue is demand..... if the original factory batteries are a common problem, then the demand for whatever supply there is will be high. My dealer advises me that they will install a brand new factory fresh battery in my GV70 as soon as they come in. Where are you located? I am in Long Island, NY. Good luck......
I am getting my car back today after 5 weeks of aggressively hounding them about my utter dissatisfaction with the length of this down time. So I'm wondering how are you doing with your new battery. Is there hope that this "THE FIX". Am anxiously waiting to hear your response

I have had my GV70 for 1 month. Yesterday I checked my battery health and it was at 83%. Today after driving it it is now 79%. Could the problem be the battery is not charging while driving? That sounds like it would be an alternator issue. Can you hook up a battery tender to the jumper posts under the hood to keep the battery charged?

How did you determine the %health?
