LAP3 ECU and TCU Review

Still loving it! I was out of town for 5 days and got back yesterday.

I did go DYNO the car last week before I left. When I pulled the AWD fuse out, I accidentally knocked the power wire to my charge pipe injection loose. So on the Dyno the fuel pump was crashing at 4k and above RPMs. Rookie mistake on my part and didn't realize it until I went to drive the car after and noticed my E85 gauge was only reading "E8". I knew instantly that my CPI and fuel-it sensor wasn't working cause it should say "E40"

Still made 469whp and 543wtq though

You can see on the dyno graph where the pump crashes after 4k RPM. Power just falls on its face. Then looking at the log (attached) you can see fuel trims went through the roof and the fuel pump crashed. I was running E40 so without CPI the HPFP can't keep up.

Without charge pipe injection or METH, the car still made that much power. Id be curious to see how it performs on just E30 without the CPI. The HPFP can handle up to E30 without crashing. Also curious to see how much more power it will make with my CPI working haha. Going to go back soon and do some test on the dyno. I was able to obtain a meth kit so going to do DYNO runs on meth/no CPI, CPI/no meth, both meth and CPI and straight E30 with no meth or CPI.

Needless to say the car performing better than it ever has, having LAP3 ECU and TCU.

Nice numbers!!!
Your chart also shows the importance of shifting at 5500RPM's!

The chart is showing the fuel pump crashing above 4k RPM because CPI wasn't on. If it was on, HP/TQ would hold closer to redline.

basically the chart above is worthless since the pump was crashing and fell on its face.

Here is my old dyno with CPI working (before ECU tune, HFC, exhaust etc). you can see how HP goes all the way.

But, shifting earlier will still help with faster times. I don't get a ton of boost taper with the LAP3 tune which is great. Boost holds a lot longer through the RPMs.

Another update for the week.

Got a WMI setup installed last night. Pulled the seats out and did a really clean install running everything under the carpet. I did a little Frankenstein setup. Most of the kit is the BMS kit but intstead of using JB4 with an FSB, I am running the AEM WMI controller. Reason for this is because CPI kit already uses an FSB. I could have added another one but the way I did it was a bit cleaner and easier.

I will be doing a full write up with plenty of Data, Times and Dyno. It should help a lot of people when trying to figure out what the best setup is. The LAP3 ECU is pretty impressive on adapting quickly to the different scenarios and you can really feel the difference when going form 91 octane to E30 to E50 etc.

DYNO, Logs and Times will include:
E30: No WMI or CPI running
E30/Meth: No CPI
E50/CPI. No meth (reason doing E50 and CPI is because with E30 there is no point to run CPI as the HPFP can handle it. Higher E content will need the CPI to relieve pressure from the HPFP.
E50/Meth/CPI

Obviously I can't do E50 with just meth because the HPFP would crash without running CPI.

Stay tuned!

Holy shite! I think you might be the first one to stack WMI and CPI? I can't wait to see these results. I foresee some hurt feelings real soon with whoever rolls on with you :D

You have any trans worries yet (longevity)?? I just ordered my Lap3 ECU/TCU and I have a 2019, with 33K on it... I'm running WMI and full bolt ons as well... Going to do a trans flush and put in Amsoil here shortly. I would really hate to grenade something...

Thanks! There is one other stinger guy who holds the record. he is running CPI and Meth. Joel.

Trans is good and it will hold. the key is to learn how to launch it. Don't hold it for more than 2 seconds.

Trans flush actaully helped a lot. I did it at 3k miles on the car and it made a huge difference. Temps went lower and shifts felt better. Amsoil fluid is what I went with as well.

Alright. was able to do 5 back to back logs with the new meth kit installed.

In terms of the log, it is perfect. Not one thing out of place. 0 timing pull on all logs across the board and hitting 22 degrees of timing up top. AFR is spot on. Fuel trims are perfect. Boost stays flat at about 19-20psi through the gears. HPFP is not even close to being maxed out with E46 on CPI. IAT's are lower than normal. Its still 75-80's here so seeing IAT's in low 70's is a first. Once it gets colder I am sure they will drop more.

A lot more data to come. Going to get some logs today showing it without WMI and just CPI on E46. Then Once I get that, I will drop the car down to E30 and turn off CPI and run it with just meth spraying.

Wow...that's one of the best looking logs I've seen! Now I can't wait to get my lap3 ECU & TCU!
My trans flush helped my shifts and lock up time between P/D/R as well. I'm going to got the rear diff this weekend with amsoil gear oil as well, just as extra insurance.
Sooooo....0-60 times???

Yea, the LAP3 setup is proving to be amazing.

Best 0-60 is 3.1. In the video I posted somewhere on this post.

Trans flush improved my shifting as well and my car is brand new.

How to do this trans flush pretty please, lol?

Its not really a legit flush. Here is what I did.

1) get trans to operating temp
2) Go from Park, N, Drive about 3 times while in each gear for 2-3 seconds
3) Drain fluid. usually 3-4 quarts comes out. Measure how much came out and put exact same amount of new fluid back in.
4) repeat process until clean new fluid comes out.

Or just take a look at this :)

If I could add to this procedure, after reading how to do it:

The fluid is drained with the transmission cold, but the fluid level is checked when at operating temperature.

Here is a log with just CPI (E45) and no meth. Pretty much the same data as CPI w/ meth which I expected.

Also, was out and about and had to fill up with straight 91 octane (couldn't find E85). So attached is a log with just 91 octane and meth. Pretty good considering. few timing corrections but not bad at all with highest being 1.5 degree. Def feels a tad slower in the powerband with the overall timing being lower throughout. But the ECU is doing its job and adjusting.

Next logs will be E30 w/ meth. No CPI. Then E30 w/ CPI and no meth.

How is the Charge pipe injection. I HAVE THE 450 BMS kit and was thinking of Flex fuel/Charge pipe injection kit for next mod

CPI is great. opens up for more tuning options. If you plan on running more E content and have E85 available, its a great option.

Sweet, i have access to E85 and E15.

How does this work in terms of removing bolt ons for maintenance at the dealer so as to not void the warranty? I know the JB4 can just be removed and good, but does that hold here as well?
