Hello, you can refer to my other post about the recent accident that I had with my '22 G70 if you are interested.
I've been driving a '21 Dodge Charger for me rental for 3 days now, I will say first of all that the Charger had always been a car I've wanted to drive forever but never got the chance to, I just love the way it looks and was so interested in testing how it drives and handles.
The one that I got was a base Charger, so I know I shouldn't be really judging the performance of the vehicle based on that, but I will say that I was so disappointed with the lack of power/acceleration, I always assumed that the Charger was a beast but honestly with my experience so far it accelerates a bit faster than a regular sedan car. Which made me REALLY appreciate my G70, I mean holy cow what a huge difference it was, my G70 is so damn aggressive and powerful when I hit the gas, I guess I don't have to say no more since you guys know what I'm talking about lol
Anyway, just a few things that I have noticed when driving the Charger, I feel like the drive is more smooth in the Charger, especially when I compare the braking, I was really enjoying the smooth and consistent slow down and coming to a stop, something that my G70 struggles with due to the harsh transmission braking, it was so nice to have full control over the slow down without having any of those annoying mini stops when the gear is shifting down.
I really liked that the steering wheel had up/down buttons on the BACK of it on each side, and between the up and down buttons there was a button that is used to select/enter, I found that better than having those buttons on the front and preferred to have actual buttons for control rather than the wheels.
The screen in front of the driver had really good detailed options to display coolant temp, oil temp, oil pressure, transmission temp in numbers, AND oil life indicator, I thought that was really cool and wished the G70 had those.
The screen in the center was alright I thought, nothing too fancy, but one thing that I liked was the simplicity, it had the main menu options always displayed at the bottom (radio, climate, settings etc), which made transitioning between menus really easy with one click, this is something that i thought the G70 lacked a bit, many times I found myself needed a "home" button to go back to the main menu while I was in the map screen, I know there was a home button there but it would auto hide and you have to click on a menu to display it, I prefer the consistency of what I saw in the Charger. But I understand the G70 has way more options to display so it's not as simple to do the same.
Other than that, the G70 definitely had WAY more options and customizations, the vehicle I was driving didn't have any smart cruise control or lane assist (maybe those are options in higher trims), but honestly after driving that car it surely didn't impress me at all, technology wise or driving wise, it certainly didn't seem like I was driving a modern 2021 car, more like a 2015 one.
Those were just my observations, if anyone had an experience driving one of the more powerful sporty models, let me know what you think about it compared to the G70 !
