  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just hit 20,000 miles. Tires have 6/32 tread remaining. Original depth was 10/32. If you can project these numbers, when I hit replacement time (2/32), they will have gone 40,000 miles.

I got less than a year out of the stock dunlops... (winter tires allowed me to get past a calendar year before buying new summers).

I don't mind fast wearing tires if you get performance ... but those dunlops were bad all around, didn't stick in the dry, hydro-planned in the wet and would not move in the lightest of snow...

I understand allseason tires are a compromise but they should do at least one thing well....

Ditto. As I said in a post elsewhere in this thread, mine will last a long time. I just don't understand how guys are wearing them out so fast.

Have you guys priced tires lately? The prices are outrages, compared to just a few months ago. Yesterday, I was at one of the two "Mom & Pop" tire stores in Umatilla Florida, where two years ago, I purchased Mastercraft Tires for my wifes Continental. The owner told me that he's had four price increases since January 1st, and he received noticed of another price increase starting May 1st. Two years ago, I purchased four 225-60-16 Mastercraft tires for $406.00 installed and tax included. Today, the price is up around $500. Although he did not know the reason for the increase, thinking it had to do with the price of oil (tires are made from oil), I know the real reason is that the government has put a 30% tax on imported tires, so because imported tire prices have gone up, domestic tires also have gone up, (to keep up with the imported tire price). Took the Continental there yesterday, and those Mastercraft with 15,000 miles on them still look like brand new. Dealer rotated and balanced them for $10. (thats for all four, not each). For tires that were not purchased from him (like my Genesis), he charges $20 for a rotation and balance. I just wish Mastercraft made an 18inch tire that fits the Genesis, but they don't. Darn!

That is because of a stupid Obama administration trade sanction to appease the unions.

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/editorial-yes-we-can-start-a-trade-war/

President Obama paid his outstanding union dues and slapped a 35 percent punitive tariff on Chinese car and light truck tires exported to the USA. The new duty will take effect on September 26 and comes in addition to an existing 4 percent duty, Reuters reports. Everybody, except for the United Steelworkers, agrees that this is one of the most boneheaded decisions of the new administration.

Mine are garbage so far. Have 10K on them. Especially bad when there is moisture. I'm in midwest any thoughts on an all weather tire? Recommendations. I have the 3.8 sedan '09. Thanks

Mine lastes less than 500 miles! thats when I traded them in. :-)

Got you beat, mine lasted less than 30 miles to have them replaced. :D Sold the originals for $800 in the local adds. :D

I just bought 2010 Genesis sedan and they have the Dunlop tires, seems like a loud tire but only have 2K on them so when the time comes they will recycle just fine.;)

Own a 2010 Genesis 4.6 Sedan. Only had 1400 miles on my Dunlaps when one very unexpectedly blew out. Dealer could not help but Goodyear/Dunlap offered me half the replacement cost for the destroyed tire. Within the next 2 weeks I replaced all 4 Dunlaps with Continental Extreme Contact DWS (Dry-Wet-Snow). Great tires, super ride, outstanding warranty. Made one of my Dunlaps into a full-spare. Check out TireRack for very good prices on Continentals and other tires.

I just bought a 2010 Genny with Dunlop tires. Only has 2800 miles but you all have me horrified about tire life now! I'll be checking them every day now.

Replaced at 20,000. Could have gotten another 2-3000. Don't like worn tires. Hyundai, you need to do better.

Mr. M- I have 23,000 on the car- minus 7K when I switched over to snows- and have 1/2 life- so should get over 30K highway miles with rotation.

Well I guess I drive like an old lady - 2 years and 28K miles and the old rubber has to go.

Curious to see what the tire stores offer me.

Just passed 16K and have decided to replace the Dunlops. They've become quite noisy. SInce my lease is up in six months I wasn't too concerned about getting high mileage out of the new set, Goodyear Eagle GT. :)

Just to let you guys know. My dealership offers free tires for life if you have all service work done at the dealership.

I made a trip from Miami to NYC with 14,150 miles. In NYC I had to order new tires to replace the crap Dunlop 5000M. I am driving back to FL and now have 16,358 miles and I am praying it doesn't rain before I get home!
I purchased Continental Extreme DW's to replace the Dunlops. Has anybody besides Fast454 received any compensation from their dealer or Hyundai of North America toward the purchase of new tires???
