  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm just looking for input from my fellow G70 owners who live in colder climates and got the block heater option. I'm just wondering, do you notice any noise when it's plugged in? As well, do you notice much improvement in how fast your car gets warm after you start it when it's been plugged in? I ask because I have the block heater but am uncertain if it's working properly, as the couple times I've had to plug it in, I don't hear any noise of coolant circulating, my car seems to crank about the same amount plugged in vs not plugged in when cold, and it seems to sit at high idle for the same amount of time and get to normal operating temps in the same amount of time, so I'm not sure my block heater is working and wondering if I need to get it looked at. Any info would be appreciated! My previous 2 cars didn't have block heaters so I don't know what to expect with a modern block heater as to how it sounds and the impact it has, the last car I had with a block heater was a 1999 Cherokee and you could definitely hear the block heater circulating coolant and it made a noticeable difference when starting and warming up versus not plugged in. Thanks all!

Where is the block heater cord in the first place? :)
Been looking and cannot find it.

It's a round plug located dead center under the front license plate. Assuming you got one installed.

Sounds good, will double-check. They are standard on all cars in Alberta given our winters. Thanks!

Hi, is anyone able to provide a picture of where the block heater core is plugged into the block? My car was shipped from Alberta to Ontario so I wanted to find out if the dealer is taking me for a ride to install a block heater or if I just need a cord.

I was told it's an option and quote "most luxury cars don't come with one". So yeah. :)

the block heater is an accessory add on. i assume this is either installed by the dealer or as a port add-on. kinda surprised a car in AB wouldn't get this installed by default. my BC car never got one, nor do i need it. according to the Gen Canada build site, this is what it should like like:
