I am new to the forum. I've really enjoyed reading peoples' experiences with the Genesis sedan so I'll post my own.
I have an 09 4.6 Genesis Sedan with the Tech package. I bought it used at ~80K miles back in 2013. Now it's 2022 and I have 183K miles on it.
I've had to replace the alternator, battery once (used an AGM battery), starter, some AC repairs, a brake sensor, steering
wheel control (so I can move the steering
wheel up and down), and replace a door handle. I am just now approaching my first major repair....
The story with that is I've burned through 4 sets of Michelin tires from Costco in ~15K each. Thankfully, I've been able to get credit back each time via the mileage warranty. I took the Genny into my trusted NAPA shop to investigate and they found a variety of suspension issues. They said the car underneath looks otherwise good, and I use synthetic oil.
For the repair I need to replace all the front control arms, various shocks, and some other suspension related things. Parts from the dealer alone are running me ~6000 but labor is ~1500. I was considering buying another used Genesis, but I must have a V8, and prices are so overly inflated. I had to decide... do I put more money in the car than what it's worth, or do I spend 3x that on another used Genesis and take a gamble. So I went with the devil that I knew. Here's hoping it turns out ok.
