If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

Exciting! Yellow plate is commercial/dealer, if I remember correctly? So not a customer car...

I put two reservations in at two dealerships in the GTA and I must say that I have never in over 30 yrs of buying all makes of cars has such poor communication. They won't return an email asking about arrival times and when I quoted this forum to one of them yesterday (about arrival in Markham) the sales manager simply replied 'I will let you know when one is available'.
I'm not very happy with Genesis dealers so far. And, by the way, I have not been bugging them. Since February I have emailed each one 2 or maybe 3 times asking for information...about once monthly.

I think its more along the lines they are getting an incredible number of emails with people quoting the Forums and some of them do not handle frustration very well, especially considering they must be getting an influx of inquiries about the spotted GV60. The information regardless of who says it on here are nothing but speculation that the dealerships are not allowed to comment on. The only "safe" thing they can tell us is "I have nothing official yet but will let you know when Genesis makes an official update".

I asked my dealer about the Spotted GV60 in Ontario and all he could say was its likely a pre-production model from the head office, and that as far as he knows demo units have not landed in Canada yet, typically western Canada will see the Demo's first since they land in Vancouver port before going east.

I'm not sure that's the reason. How many deposits do they have for the GV60 across Canada....maybe 300 or 400 (at most). So how many would be at any one dealership that they are getting so many emails?
A few members on this forum has described information from their dealers.
It's not that either of my dealers have no information (or won't divulge it), it's that they haven't even replied to either of my 2 or 3 emails over a period of a couple of months.
I gave them $1000 in trust and they cannot be bothered to reply to my emails asking 'any news?'.

I must say it's turning me off the Genesis brand. I can't imagine if I had any problems with the car that they would be very interested.

I agree it is annoying - to be fair I believe they reached 500 deposits in Canada in the first two days though at least according to my dealer. Last I heard the week following was 1000.

Is it possible you don't have the right person to contact at your dealer? I was immediately escalated from dealing with a "Hyundai" person to the GM of the dealer since he was the only one with relevant information to give me locally. From my experience, I usually get a reply to my emails within 30-60 minutes whenever I ask a question or see if there's any updates. If nothing else, I would poke around your local dealer to find the best person to feed you information, but even still they likely won't have anything additional to share other than "nothing official yet" kinda like the rest of us.

If nothing else I'm just really hoping the delays start to come down here quick because its nearly May and we don't even have pricing announced let alone their finance "reveal" and all the other releases they will pull before anyone gets their cars.

I hear what you're saying. At one dealer I am dealing with the Sales Manager who I was referred to when the salesman I originally spoke with was unable to process my deposit for some reason.
Until I gave him my Visa number for the deposit he was very attentive and called me a couple times to see if he could answer any questions I might have.
After the deposit both my emails went unanswered until I copied and re-sent them asking why they weren't responding.
Same thing at the other dealership although it wasn't the Sales Manager. After my initial enquires I received several emails inviting me to come down and talk to the salesman.
After my deposit I got no response until I emailed him that I was a very unhappy customer and was considering cancelling my deposit.
Oh well.

I was just reading a few reviews of Genesis customers saying that Genesis wouldn't pick up their cars for service or leave a loaner as they were guaranteed at time of purchase.

Has anyone here got good things to say about Genesis customer service? A search online doesn't bring up happy customers of Genesis Canada...although I know unhappy people are more likely to leave reviews.

That is extremely strange behaviour you've seen. The only reason I even put down the deposit on the GV60 was because of my friends extremely positive experience with his G70. Genesis has went as far as trailering it long-distance at no cost, providing long term loaners of higher end vehicles during extended warranty service times, and never once had an issue picking up cars for regular maintenance intervals either.

Thats obviously completely anecdotal and maybe even regional to my dealer, as are the others experiences online though. I'm inclined to just stay patient and see what comes from all this. I'm not desperate for the car, and if they end up taking forever and being a pain to deal with down the road, I'll buy another EV instead - no harm done.

Over 1,300 pre-orders.

Received email from my dealer today April 7 who till now was reluctant to advise me/and/or didn’t know stating my build order number is #42 for Canadian preorders which means I should be well placed to get my GV60!!,
The dealer also advised of the following updated timelines:

Here is the current estimated timeline for the GV60.

  • April - Production slated to start for GV60s.
  • May - Pricing Announcement, Demonstrator vehicles to arrive for test drive purposes.
  • June - Interest Rates for Leasing and Financing to be released.
  • Summer 2022 - First wave of pre-orders to arrive for delivery. Pre-orders will continue to arrive in waves.
Hello all
I got similar info from my dealer " Montreal South shore"
Order #40 in Canada GV60 PERFORMANCE Uyuni White Marine interior
MAY : official pricing & Test drive
End of June : Delivery

pricing seems still very uncertain : beteeen 66k to 80 k

If 80k then i might roll back to a porsche Macan
Non electric but well established and fun to drive....

I feel like I might be in for a disappointment. When I put down my deposit, the salesperson sent a link with an invitation. He told me it doesn’t matter what you reserve, because genesis will send whatever they make and then you actually choose what you want And see if you get it. I don’t want what was reserved. Now what? I go to the back of the line? Ugh

Very strange - the only way I could understand that is if you placed your deposit after the initial "500" cars and that you would likely get booked into the 2023 built cars which in theory means that what you reserved is meaningless. Any other way I don't get that logic at all because these cars will be sold out for probably years same as nearly every other EV including EV6 and Ioniq5 so I don't see them having inventory of whatever random build hanging around for you to choose from?

If only they were more transparent about the whole process...

While forecasts about COVID and its impacts aren't worth too much, the general consensus from what I've come across is that analysts seem to expect chip shortage to continue to impact the industry until the end of 2022.
Were EVs 'sold out' prior to COVID? I wasn't paying close attention, but the occasional visit I made to the Tesla and Polestar websites showed reasonably prompt ship dates.
Why do you think the GV60 would be sold out for years?

I agree- I think the chip shortage is temporary. Right now the limiting factor in the future of EV growth seems to be battery supply. Love Tesla or hate Tesla, their vertical integration of battery manufacturing is making them very hard to compete with for years until the rest of the industry can play catch up. Hyundai group uses CATL and SK as suppliers for every single battery that goes in their cars. Those two brands have their own limitations in factory capacity and supply MANY other car brands at the same time. Scaling up purchasing and supply of batteries from those brands isn't impossible, but it also isn't limitless and likely isn't high enough to keep up with global demand (from more than just HMG).

We've seen from the last year and a bit of Ioniq 5 sales and now the EV6 that HMG can't produce enough of these vehicles to meet demand. Sales for the entire model year get cutoff early and consumers literally have to wait to be able to put in a pre-order.

EV's were not particularly challenging to get 3 years ago, but the demand was a fraction of what we have now. 3 years ago the competition for Tesla was almost entirely inferior products sold on a budget - no good competitors existed in the market until quite recently and now every car brand in the world is trying to enter production to keep up with demand.

In the end, HMG might prioritize batteries for the GV60 since it will probably be a higher margin product for them than selling bulk volume of middle spec Ioniq 5's. On the other hand, I also wouldn't be surprised if the annual allocation for the GV60 in Canada sells out every year and we don't see in-inventory models for years. We don't have a crystal ball (unlike the gv60 interior lol), so it's impossible to say how many of us here will even get a car by December- I just have the assumption that for a year or two here the demand/pre-orders will continually outweigh the number of cars they can produce.

It all happened pretty quickly. The sales person said that there were 600 cars coming to Canada in 2022 and I was like, 530 in line and to expect late fall delivery. He said that this was just a deposit and that no one has actually ordered their car, its just to hold your place in line. He said that when you actually order, that is when you put in your requests. Now it seems I am going to have to start over. My car is old and I don't think I can wait two years. I am very disappointed.

Let your contact know that you want something other than what you ordered. Maybe someone else will have a similar thought and you can swap - or perhaps take a cancelled order.

Stopped at the Calgary dealership couple hours ago and was told my place in line would not have my 60 delivered until Nov to ?? Based on the marketplace I think delivery will be closer to the ?? timeline 🤪
Disappointing issue was approx 40+ people ahead of me on the list. I placed my deposit first thing in the AM on Feb 8th but I was told it wasn’t entered into the system until March 9 !!
He didn’t have a reason but told me my deposit is refundable…. I guess telling me if I don’t like it, take my money elsewhere.

Im doing my best to be gracious with the disappointment as I can’t do anything else, but I expected more from Genesis.

but hey it’s supposed to be sunny this weekend 😁

I presume the GV60 qualifies as an SUV for the purposes of today’s zero emissions subsidy announcement?

Did you do your deposit online or somehow with the dealer?
