  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I went to log my oil change into the MyHyundai Service History today, and there was a message for me. "Your new Vehicle Software Update is now available (ST.LF.USA.E478.150901: Sep 1 2015 12:00AM)". The notice was dated Aug. 14, 2016.

So far, there is no download tab. Does anyone know what this update is?

I see the same message. I was in for an oil change on 05-Aug and no updates were performed.

Unless I’m misinterpreting it, it says Sept 1. Now does that mean that’s when available? Don’t know.

And what year are we at now? :D

As I understand it that's the Android update and although it does appear in the My Hyundai for Ultimate owners, it should be ignored since it doesn't apply.

I just called Genesis/Equus Customer Care and asked about this update I see on MyHyundai as well. You are correct that it is the AA/CarPlay update that is not applicable to DIS systems (yet - more below) due to hardware incompatibilities - hence, why there is no download link. The rep apologized and said it was sent out in error to all Genesis owners.

She also said that this does not mean that AA/CarPlay will not be coming to the DIS system and they are still working with Apple and Android on solutions. I pointed out that the new Korean G80 has CarPlay on the 17 speaker DIS system and she acknowledged that (seemed to be aware that was the case) and said they are working to bring it here too, but making sure there are no bugs.

So, take it for what it's worth, but the door may not be fully closed on this capability for existing Ultimate Owners. I'd encourage anyone interested to contact Hyundai and inquire as the more they hear from interested current owners, the more likely that they will seriously work on this (I'd guess). you can reach them at (877) 378-8727 or (877) EQUUS-27.

So, are there any software updates for the 2015? If so, how do you get them?

Your dealer receives Service and Technical Advisories from Hyundai which provide not only part fixes, but the software downloads, as well. The work resulting from these Advisories is often written up on your work order as "completed campaign XYZ". Make certain to ask, when you have your car in, whether all Hyundai advisories have been addressed and implemented. They should have a record, by your VIN, of what is needed, as they are often model/option specific.

You have to be careful. Software updates or computer flashing sometimes do more harm than good. Having been on multiple forums in the past, I know of instances where computer flashing updates have caused changes in tranny shifting making a car slower and other weird stuff.

The good thing is a forum like this always will have somebody complaining about such an instance with many more finding out the same. And reverting back after a flash generally can't be done once the computer has been updated.

WHAT????

Flashing a computer bios, okay - if you don't know what you're doing it may brick your system (not nearly as often as believed, by the way). But downloading apps to a vehicle system? Please.

chris41 is right. On my previous vehicle, Chrysler reprogrammed the transmission, and multiple people reported having a different (i.e. worse) driving experience after the "update". The update was supposed to help people with a transmission issue (harsh shifts into and from 1st gear), but made things worse for a bunch of other people.

They also had an update for the radio that made the sound worse for a lot of owners - the forum explicitly warned of getting to update done because it didn't have any positive effect anyone noticed, but had a detrimental effect for some people.

It doesn't brick your system, but they have the ability to change so many parameters that you may get back a somewhat different car after a service update ...

This software update is JUST for the non DIS Navi system, it would never damage the car ECU or tranny computer. If something goes wrong the damage will by only on the Navi unit.

but i think they were just referring to any kind of software update you should just be careful as its not always for the better. even the 335i guys had a bunch of problems with a software update for their dual clutch transmissions.

There's a big difference between downloading an app and a service bulletin that updates a vehicle function. Let's not frighten or confuse folks unnecessarily.

^^^^ True. The OP was referring to AA/CP software update posted on MyHyundai.com

Is there anything new on this thread since 2016? I'd like to add Apple CarPlay to my 2015 Genesis. Is it possible?
