  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The GV70 Trailer Hitch Discussion

OK, I'be been working with my fabricator. Problem is that he is not a mass producer. He does more one off type of work on some amazing car restorations. He talked to his water jet cutter and powder coater and thinks he could make 5 hitches like mine for $10K, so $2,000 each. Mine was about 3K, but well worth it to me. We'd have to get the liability straightened out, but I feel like it could be done. About to go load my bike on mine now...

Do we know why we couldn't purchase the Australian hitch and ship to the US? Anyone try to give Genesis Australia a call? They do sell both the 2.5t and 3.5t, I assume the undercarriage is the same?
Just sent an email to Genesis in Australia asking if Genesis KIT PART NO: ARA04APH00 is still available - will share response.

I just checked Uhaul they have a hitch for $349 plus $162 for installation, has anyone got one from there?

Ok I knew there would be a better price on the Draw-Tite hitch and here it is.

$280.00 and free shipping.

While this is cheaper than the factory hitch ($460) it does require a hole drilled in the frame. But since I only use it for bike rack and platform trash can carrier I may skip that step. There are still 6 bolts holding it in the same as the factory hitch.

thank you for checking into this

Installed the Drawtite hitch (Uhaul.com $350) by myself in about 2 hrs. Not visually pleasant but will serve the functional purpose for my bike rack.
Did you just bolt the hitch in or did you also drill into the frame to bolt?

Thanks!

I notice the factory hitch does not specific its a Class III hitch, unlike the Draw-tite. Maybe thats why the Draw-tite needs the extra bolts? I would assume they have their reasons and follow the manufacturer instruction and put in the extra bolts.....but thats just me.

I just left hitch appointment at U-Haul. They warned of needing to cut / modify bumper fascia, and would take 4 hours. The installer was watching a you-tube video for installation, which turned out was for a GV80 (wouldn't refer to hitch install instructions included in hitch). I left without install- they didn't inspire confidence.

Yea, I was the same. U-Haul here charges only $150 for the install. But I've booked appointment with a hitch speciality shop here who charges $250. If there was no drilling involved, I may have gone with U-Haul.

Hey all,

I just got my gv70, but it came attached with tow hitch from manufacturer that the dealership is removing this weekend. Let me know if you’re interested in purchasing hitch. Thanks in advance!

Is it the hidden one, and are you in the US?

I don’t think it’s the hidden one (it’s manufacturer installed). Yes I’m in US.

Just to clarify, the towbar is visible, correct? If so, thanks for the offer, I'm trying to get my hands on a hidden one.

Hi guys, any updates on hitch selections?

I spoke to the dealer today, about the Genesis hitch, she told me to take a good look at some photos of the hitch,
As a lot of customers were not happy with look of it.
