  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

HDA1 vs HDA2 for US GV60

Ahh. That would certainly be a nice upgrade. I'm now on my third car with adaptive cruise, and can attest that none thus far have handled vehicles coming in/out of the lane very well.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
My biggest gripe with no HDA2 is in the day to day use of SCC. Regular SCC with just the front radar doesn't react fast enough to ppl cutting you off in front of you and the car reacts too late and jams on the brakes. With HDA2's 2 corner radars, it's able to see and anticipate cars pulling into your lane much earlier and therefore makes the SCC experience smoother and more human like.

Auto lane changes are nice but not high on my list.
That's part of FCA2 not HDA2.
However I do think that Genesis is cross packaging bits and pieces of each.

What do we really end up losing with just HDA? I don‘t mind changing lanes on my own. The loss of forward cross traffic assist would be regretted- would be nice having another set of eyes as I pull out of parking spots with pickup trucks on either side.

Overall, just a shame for a vehicle that was sold as being a platform for all the latest tech. Very bizarre that they’re including it on higher-volume, lower margin products, but not this one.
Here's the list of stuff that's missing from HDA vs HDA2 from another thread on this forum:

Found this in the sales document. Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed.

While disappointing, it's not a deal breaker for me. What kills me is that they are still shipping HDA2 in the IQ5 and EV6 today while pulling it back from their premium brand.

Not to beat a dead horse here but even the suggestion that they should remove a feature from cars they are actively shipping isnt grounded in reality.

There haven't been any gv60s in the US yet, so they're not walking a feature back

When I said premium brand, I meant Genesis as a whole. They pulled it off of all new Genesis cars shipped since March while keeping it in Hyundai and Kia cars still being delivered today.

This is probably a stupid question, but does the lack of HDA2 mean that the car won’t alert you when there is someone next to you when you are about to switch lanes?

No, blind spot detection/warning is not affected by omission of HDA2.

Pulling it off a vehicle mid cycle is a bad look if that's the case.

Model year over year is an easier pill to swallow, but still not great

Who knows why they did it, maybe it has to do with the popularity of the cars, I'm sure they have their reasons but it's clear they don't have the agency to do exactly what they want, given worldwide constraints

It won't turn you back into your lane to avoid the collision. Just warn you like before!

But it also has a blind spot monitor in the dash and display and warning in HUD. Isn't that enough?

Yes. But HDA2 incorporated some of the FCA2 features that took it a step further. Losing that is a step back.

So they've handicapped some of the early 2023 models arriving in the US, how are we gonna know when they've added HDA2 back in?

Not sure. I would have rather they drop colour choices or scraped other little cosmetic bits than safety and autonomous stuff!

Agree, but there's a chip shortage, not a pigment shortage. :)
I heard recently that the average EV uses 100 times as many chips as the average ICE vehicle...

Is there still a light in the side mirror when a car is in the blind spot, or is that entirely replaced by the camera view in the dash?

Good question. Hope it's there too!

Well I don't know about that. Seems to me that an ICE vehicle would need the same chips for all the safety features, display screens etc as an electric vehicle. The difference is the battery system & electric motors vs ICE and transmission, both of which need chips.

I was off by an order of magnitude. It seems it’s ten-fold.

“The shortage is thought to have been exacerbated by the move to electric vehicles. For example, a Ford Focus typically uses roughly 300 chips, whereas one of Ford’s new electric vehicles can have up to 3,000 chips."
