Does anybody have a pics/location oil drain bolt?

Getting ready to do my first oil change on the car and get rid of the factory fill oil, and was curious as to where exactly the oil drain bolt is located underneath the car? Also do you have to remove any undercarrige covers to get to it?

I will try and get a picture for your tomorrow. Once you jack up the front end of the car, coming from under the engine you will see a plastic cover much like you see covering the engine. It's the only thing there, there is a circular space that has the drain bolt. It is really one of the easiest oil changing systems I have ever dealt with. It is the only bolt in the entire plastic covering, jack it up and you can't miss it.

If you take a picture, try and get some perspective so they can tell where it is located relative to everything else, and not just a close-up view.

Sweet that would be helpful for us V6'ers who haven't yet changed their oil for the first time and plan on doing so themselves. Pics always help!

It will be obvious to you once you jack the car up. Once you remove the plastic covers under the car, the oil pan has a waffle like structure. Read the other posts about what tools are needed and the fill amount/dip stick issue with the V6 sedan.

Have any recommendations on ramps for the car?

Is there enough clearance for small ramps? Or do they have to be a certain size to gain access underneath the car?

I guess is doesn't matter if there is only 1 size of car ramps? Never owned a pair that's why I'm asking.

I tried those rhino ramps that you buy at Autozone, and they are plastic, and they are $h*t. If you buy racing ones, that are decent, they are expensive and take up a lot of room in the garage. I just use a floor jack and jack stands, it's the proper, safe way to do it. Ramps are convenient, but you are draining oil at an angle. Ideally, you should be draining the oil on a flat surface, but it doesn't make that much of a difference to be honest.
 
Why would you remove the plastic shroud underneath the car? There is a hole / opening for the drain plug.

TJ, that cannot be your car- doesn't look clean enough. Or is it prior to cleaning and that's why all the cladding is removed! lol

It's a V6 coupe, different, but mostly the same. Funny. Oil doesn't come out in a nice even way. I have done it both ways and made a mess with the cover on, but you're right it's not mandatory. But it's good to take a peek at other parts of the car and see if anything is leaking, loose or, other...
 
Polish away! You are right, before pulling the plug, I stuff a rag along the top of the shroud to avoid the oil flow making inside the plastic cover and then later leaving drips.

Last time I pulled the cover off, there was a lot of pebbles and dirt that had accumulated. I dumped them out wiped down the inside of it, then used a tooth brush to get at the nooks and crannies.

sure, it's pretty simple. The Genesis (as most cars now a days) sits fairly low to the ground. The plastic ones have no weight to them. As you're trying to climb up the ramps, all you end up doing is pushing them along the ground instead of climbing up them.. There is little to no friction between the ground and the ramps. This will vary depending on the surface. If it's concrete, or smooth garage floor, you have little chance. If it's brick or something more porous it may work better. I had to put cinder blocks on the front to keep them from moving and one moved and the other did not. After a couple tries I got it, but it was clear why the ramps were on sale. Also, it's doesn't give you that much ground clearance. Barely enough to get under the car, it's very tight fit. I cleaned them and returned them. FYI they were Rhino Ramps 12,000 lb. GVW capacity.
Way better off with a low profile racing floor jack and 2 jack stands
