  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

44,000 miles on it and 30,000 miles after putting a bunch of mods on it, i still only dislike the sunroof rattle, stupid brake rotor vibration and the incandescent turn signals. It's great in the snow, it's great on twisty roads, i put roof racks on and take 4 people skiing, or i put 500 pounds of furniture in it when i move into my college house, whatever.

I replaced the brakes and turn signals and don't really have any complaints now. My friends know it's a sports car, they couldn't care less about leg room in the back when they have to sit there.

After recently driving in lots of busy highway traffic in a rented Charger that didn't have adaptive cruise (or a bunch of other stuff), I have a new appreciation for our Adaptive Cruise.

I have a goal of ordering a C8 Corvette next year, and it not having adaptive cruise control was a bit surprising to me.

While waiting for the G70 to finally arrive to USA. I would like to start a thread of things you don't like or would like to improve in the G70.
In my case for example, one of the things I really don't like and looks to me way outdated for a "luxury car" is the incandescent rear turn lights.
What do you think?
For me it has to be the "can't make up my mind if I want to be analog or digital" instrument cluster. Really wish they would've put the 3D version like they get in Korea. A close second would be that it doesn't come with some form of interior ambient lighting. That would've really set it off.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I agree - the “mixed” cluster is a misfit. I’d prefer total analog.

I'd like the option to re-order the drive modes. I'd change it to Eco->Comfort->Custom->Sport->Sport+

Absolutely. I'm back here because my wife didn't like the Kona N we test drove today, so will wait for another G70, but this time for a 2.0T in top trim, rather than the 3.3T SP we had to return due to an engine issue, but we were disappointed at the noisy exhaust (and an awful tone at that) that couldn't be turned off in sport mode, since Hyundai didn't bother to reprogram the custom mode to include it. So will unfortunately lose the HUD, Napa leather, suede-like headliner, Brembos, and other goodies, but it'll be a lot cheaper, and more fuel efficient, so just hope the wife likes it, since I'm tired of looking at cars in this market (as in none). Ha ha.

And going back to the Kona N, it also has an old chassis, just like the G70, but Hyundai did put a fully digital cluster on that car, so just can't comprehend why it wasn't done on the supposedly premium G70. Oh well. Anyway, another disappointment was the 2 ugly looking defrost buttons hanging down like freaking overgrown skin tags. Ha ha. And without a door for the cavity underneath. But we still like it better than the new Gs, so hope wife finds the suspension agreeable. Another bummer is the summer tires, so will have to spend over a grand to get proper ultra high-performance all-seasons.

Finally, really wish the tranny was a DCT, which even my Santa Fe Calligraphy has, instead of the soulless and boring regular TC unit, but at least it should be reliable, along with the 2.0T. We had to sell a 2016 Optima SX-L due to a bad engine (didn't want to go thru a new engine), but hope Hyundai fixed whatever was wrong with these newer ones. Also wish it was the excellent 2.5T on my SFC, but as long as it performs like the Optima (which was lighter), we'd be fine. Haven't been told how many weeks to get the new G, but it should be one of the last 2022s, I'd think.

Absolutely love everything about this car. Except the brakes. They chose way too small/thin rotors. It’s a shame because the rest of the car is an absolute home run. Best car I’ve ever owned. And with the JB4 mods it’s an absolute beast. I love it so much I’m buying it when my lease is up in December. Too bad the 2023 is essentially the same car. I owe so much less than the car is worth I would have considered trading it in on a new one. Definite possibility when the new model comes out.

The problem with the brakes are the crappy ceramic pads.

I’m on my 2nd set of rotors. First set warped really bad and we’re replaced with “upgraded“ ones under warranty but these are shit too.

They likely didn't warp. You were feeling the effects of uneven deposits from the crappy pads. It will keep happening until you get better pads. This is a known problem, well documented in this forum. Search on "brake vibration". The stupid dealer will just keep turning and replacing rotors, which is not the problem.
I went through it myself. I finally put the Euro semi metallic pads on at my own expense two years ago and the brakes are amazing.

Inexcusable. Perfect word.
Inexcusable? Are you guys nuts? Why what are you guys seeing? I’m running low 12s, can smoke over 90% of what’s on the road and can switch to Eco and average 25-30 easy with the wife and kids in the car. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Really. So you only replaced the pads? I’ll buy a set tomorrow. Can you send me a link. Thanks!

I don't like that the 2.0T is not offered fully loaded anymore. I thought it never did, but that's not the case. Just found a new 2021 2.0 fully loaded in SA, which has every option available on the 3.3T back then (except the Brembos). The name only says 'Prestige', but the window sticker shows both 'elite' and 'prestige' packages, for a total MSRP equal to 'my' 2023 2.0T Sport Prestige I was told just arrived today. SA is only discounting it 3 grand off the MSRP, and it has 66 miles, but the deal-breaker for me is it's been sitting under the sun for 2 freaking years, so if nothing is wrong with the plain white 2.0T I'm going to test-drive today, I'll bring it home. But will surely miss HUD, Napa, and suede-like headliner, and my wife the 360 camera. Oh well. Here it is, in case somebody wants to jump on it:

Considering 2020 the world was a different place and inflation is high, the same car would probably be around 50k now. I doubt there would be enough buyers in this market for it to make sense.

It'd be about 3 to 4 grand below the 3.3T almost equally equipped (Brembos not present on the 2.0T), which would be just about right. Many folks don't want or need the thirstier (and noisier) V6, so I'd gladly save 4 grand over the 3.3T I returned. But maybe not many folks opted for a fully loaded 2.0T; who knows. But should be offered IMO. Oh well. Was just notified my 2023 2.0T just arrived, so will go test it tomorrow, and hopefully bring it home. Will keep in mind the SA one I posted in case something is wrong with that car. Salesman said engine is quiet, and no paint issues like the other, so at least things look better. Ha ha.

I have an 2023 3.3t w/awd Sports Prestige Pckg. I hate the rattle coming from the sunroof, burns gas like crazy I guess it's still breaking in and the seats are not comfortable like the Kia Stinger GT2.

and in Germany :D:D:D

I'm in the minority that don't find the seats comfortable - at least not for more than about thirty minutes. Flat and hard. I hated to do it, but I use a cushion I bought on Amazon. Made a world of difference. If you continue to find the seat uncomfortable, you may want to try one.

and the seats are not comfortable
We haven't been more than maybe 20 minutes seated, and I thought the same thing. Ha ha. We're going to embark on a 1,400-mile trip on this car Thursday, and I'm almost sure we're going to regret doing that (ha ha), but don't have time for a closer 'shake-up' trip, unfortunately, and this is the only shortish trip we'll have the chance to try it. Hope it doesn't let us down. Ha ha.

Hey, 2 people saying the same thing has me second-guessing taking this car on this trip. Ha ha. Unfortunately, no time to order anything on Amazon here, since earliest delivery even with Prime is Saturday, and we leave Thursday. But may ask you for a link, please? And also a photo, if not too much trouble, to see how it fits. Finally, I posted this separately, but did you make sure the passenger airbag is not turned off with the seat cushion in place? That happens on Palisades and Santa Fes, so most likely on G70s as well. Lots of folks inadvertently had the wives not protected by airbags. The solution is to place a Faraday cloth under the seat cushion, but it'd block all airflow from the seat ventilation.
